looks as if it is asleep ? or stuffed ?

we only get hedgehogs in England. Responsible for lots of punctures.

Would not like to run over one of these.........Are you sure it is not a dinosaur ?

They are easy to cook. They come in their own bowl!

Not asleep - it was wandering around. Mostly just eating.

they wont bother you but DONT touch them, they carry bubonic Plague, If they get in your way, give em a kick, they will move and no your not hurting them. Got one in your yard? Trap it and take it out in the woods they will destroy a lawn in just a few days.

I thought it was leprosy.

Growing up here in Tennessee I never saw an armadillo on the side of the road or anywhere around these parts. After I moved back home a few years ago, I was surprised to see them as road kill - no live one yet. I figured they learned how to swim across the Mississippi or finally a few made it across one of the bridges without getting squashed and started to multiply on this side of the Big Muddy.

You are right - it is not likely unless you handle them frequently or eat them but they can pass leprosy on to humans.

Not so much - though they can hide pretty quickly when they want.

Maybe in Florida but not so much in Texas. They're all upside down there. But, yes, I looked them up in Wickepedia and they mentioned that. So far I haven't heard them.
