Highly recommend Camera Service Company, Smyrna, GA. Had shutter go out on an old Nikon D70. Turned out to be a gray market camera, and Nikon would not work on it. These guys did not care, and did a nice job repairing it for a fair cost. You can call them for an estimate. I have been a repeat customer. Good luck.

thanx all, especially BebuLamar. I know it's old, both age-wise and tschnically. But 8X zoom fits my needs and it's (almost) pocketable, when I wear large pockets. Been looking to replace it, possibly with a pocket camera, if I can find one with a comparable zoom range end optical viewfinder
