I should have sent a PM to the OP. But you should also understand that you have not been appointed as the spokesperson for the OP and by acting as the spokesperson you are also butting into something that is none of your business.

Actually, it’s the business of anyone who posts items for sale on UHH (as I have), only to have to see their potential sale derailed by negative comments such as yours. Again, would you honestly appreciate the same treatment if you were selling an item? It happens all too often.

I'll repeat what rcdovala wrote: "At this moment, Canon is offering a refurbished 6D for $899 with 1-year of Canon warranty."

And say, "thank you."

No. You have not been appointed as the arbiter as to what is a “fair” price, and you may not know all the facts. The seller has zero obligation to provide comparative pricing, only to represent the item for sale honestly. It’s not your listing, it’s none of your business, and you’re presumptuous in believing potential buyers can’t look up prices on their own. You’re not “exposing” some unethical dealings, you’re butting into a transaction that’s not yours, and that is really bad form.

Let me give you an example you may be able to relate to. You’re selling your house. You or your realtor are having an open house, and someone who you don’t know and has no interest in buying your house shows up while you’re showing it to potential buyers and posts a sign in your yard listing all the competitive houses in the neighborhood that are lower in price per square foot. Now do you get it?
No. You have not been appointed as the arbiter as ... (show quote)

I pretty much agree with TriX. If you feel that you must communicate pricing input to a seller at least use PM. You don't need to parade it on the public forum.

As an owner of a very similar camera, it is good information to me, as well as anyone in the market for a similar camera.

No need to PM on a forum. It's good sharing of information. It's what forums are for. Why would we ever keep it a secret from anyone, buyer, seller, onlookers, interested parties, anyone? Who are we keeping the information from other than each other?

I respect your opinion however just remember to maintain it when you list something and someone posts something about your listing that you don't appreciate.

Why would I not appreciate it?

Also, I have seen other members come into seller threads to announce just how good a deal something is. Do we say, "Hey, none of your business" to that person? Do we say, "PM only or we will brand you as a jerk or something?"

What's the idea here?

I would say your idea is obfuscation.

Not so. My idea is an open forum.

What's your idea? That was the question, and like a flim-flam artist, you chose not to answer me.

What's it to ya?

Did you ever stop to think that the OP considers the camera to be worth 900 dollars, to him. Buy the refurb if you want, but good luck getting a spare battery and a memory card thrown in.

Why would you consider the Hogs that clicks on a link entitled, "Canon 6D for sale"... to not have the intelligence to research other options?

If the OP considers the camera to be worth 900 dollars, but it can be had at Canon refurbished for the same amount, with a 1-year manufacturer's warranty, then that info is shareable, and will have interest to many readers.

Why would you want your fellow hogs not to share such information? After all, we do, and we will. What's the idea here?

An open forum is exactly what we are participating in so no need to answer your question when the nature of the exchange is in and of itself the answer. An open forum includes posting disagreement with the appropriateness of someone else's posting.

Surely. And what this discussion turned into is whether rcdovala should have posted information openly in this open forum. The answer becomes, "Yes." And I thanked my fellow Hog.

Be sure to scroll to the bottom and look at the last post. This is a golden opportunity for you to blast this guy too.

I should have blasted the guy that posted the first post on this link. All I wanted was an offer. If one of the Hogs wanted it for free, and offered to pay the postage, he could have bought it for the price of a stamp. i challenge anybody to find a better deal than that.

"Yes" to you, "No" to others.

Always two ways to look at it. I once saw a 6D at a garage sale for $750.00. Should I have pointed this out?
