It's February 2008 and the weather was cool with clear skies and I capture the sun setting in the background as it hits the building for a split second and I capture the most amazing shot. Initially I was setting up a shot of downtown Tampa and I was looking for the right spot to take a picture of my brother for his new music CD cover and I looked through my viewfinder to see this and I only had seconds to set up the shot and this was the end result. lovely shot indeed, but a few years early for the contest dont you think. Or did I misread the rules saying dont go through your archives, it has to be within the last month.

This has been so fun seeing the diverse area that we are from. MWAC I don't know how you are ever going to choose.

"Out for a bike ride...Chicago sky line???"
I see you're leaving a little bit of a wake, but man how fast do you have to pedal to stay on top of the water like that?

That first photo, "Sunlight over the Confederate Cemetery through fog", is a really great photo. I know from experience that isn't an easy setting to get a good exposure in. But you did a beautiful job. It's quite perfect.

The first pic is just awesome. Very beautiful. Love the light.

Nice touch on the third as well. Great composition & the water drops make the photo. Nice work.

Like the second just think it needs a curve adjustment or maybe the levels brought down just a tad. Nice vignette could bring it together. That's just my opinion. Overall love your work.

I'm not sure if I can change my mind about my submissions... if I can then I'd ask that the next three images be considered in place of the first three. Thanks

I think having a contest is interesting and it gets us out and about doing what we love to do and having an audience helps our photography skills grow through feedback and discussion. With that said, here are three images for your consideration.

Welcome to Ugly Hedgehog's very first Photography Contest. This will be a community run Bi-Monthly contest, open to all members of Ugly Hedgehog.

The rules will be relatively simple.
1. Entry to have been taken in the last month unless otherwise specified by the contest host (please do not go thru your achieves).
2. Theme will be picked by the Contest Host.
3. Contest will run for 2 weeks, after which the Contest Host will pick the winner.
4. You may enter up to 3 photos per contest.
5. The entry must be your own work.
6. Entries to be uploaded directly by entrants to the Contest Thread.
7. Contest Host will be determined by the previous Contest.
8. New rules may be added as the Bi-Monthly Contest grows and morphs.

I do hope that the Contest Hosts will provide feedback as to why they picked the entry that they did, but please remember this is for fun. I have volunteered to manage the contest overall, that does not mean I will judge entries (unless I am the Contest Host that week), or sway judging.

So with that, here is the first challenge:
Theme: Your City/Neighborhood
Due: October 30, 2011
Winner will be selected by: November 4th

Please post your entries in this thread for consideration.
Good Luck and get there and shot something!

These three photos of my neighborhood were all taken in the past month by me. I live in a small town, where barns are a plenty. We also have some high tension towers that runs for miles across the countryside. And our old section of town still had the posts where they used to tie the horses. Enjoy! Cheryl

Great portrait, I love the black background and the flash work is excellent great detail and the catch light in the eyes all make this a very interesting photo to look at. Thank you.
