Happy for you. I have had the 850 since mid-September. I am not s giddy as most, but it's a sweet camera.
Congrats on getting this great camera and lens. What was the other lens?
I've had my D850 for a month now and I am still saying "wow" and still learning. One recommendation, buy this strap:
https://www.peakdesign.com/product/straps/slide. I use it with my body and my 24-120. The weight is supported at my shoulders and the camera sits at my hip, but I can swing it to my eye in a second, and I can carry it all day without any worries. Besides, no D850 logo on the strap saying "steal me."

I also have the D850 -- great camera. I recommend Steve Perry's eBook on Nikon Autofocus system (
https://backcountrygallery.com/)
Even after years of owning Nikon Cameras (D80 --> D300s --> D7100 --> D750 --> D850), reading the ebook on the Nikon autofocus system help improve my camera usage. Enjoy your new D850.
Steve has updated his autofocus book to include the D850. Also, check out Steve's videos including an on-line D850 review at
http://backcountrygallery.com/nikon-d850-review/ . It's a great camera!

The time change is kicking my butt! I got home from work and could barely stay awake. I fell asleep very early, woke in the night with a headache. It then took a few hours to get back to sleep. I am hoping tonight goes better.
Wow! The time change should have the opposite effect. When the clock says 9pm your body should be saying it's only 8pm.
The a7 RIII will be a LOT easier on your body, even with the biggest lens!
Oops, responded to the wrong post! Congrats on the new 850
I have had mine since it first came out. Good camera but I like my D5, more so.

Wahoo! My new camera arrived from Best Buy... right on schedule. Also one of the 2 lenses arrived...the AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm, F/2.8E ED VR! Am I ever having fun. So much to learn. I'll be leaning heavily on all of you, but it will take me a few days to read the User's Manual, so you're all safe for now...LOL. This is a great group. I'm so glad I stumbled across UHH. BTW...who made up the name Ugly Hedgehog? Talk to you all soon!
Good on you! You will not be disappointed in either the camera OR the lens.
What second lens is on order?

I've read that the D5 may have a faster/more reliable autofocus.
It is a heavy camera, I use mine with a speed grip also which adds to the weight, but, its worth it. I have been a nikon user from the film days forward and the d850 is of course the best camera I have ever owned. I use it for sports and groups for work, and landscapes for fun. I have found a bracket from custom brackets that allows me to mount on a monopod and rotate V-H when I am not using the 70-200 which has a rotating collar.

They are around the same. The D5 is way ahead in low light situations. I seem to be more in the faillng light conditions especially in the winter.
Congrats , , ,another vote for Steve Perry and get Peak Design sling (i use w/my D-800 & 80-400 no strain)

I don't have the Peak Design sling yet but I do have a lightweight Peak Design neck strap and wrist strap. I noticed that many of the photographers on YouTube have the Peak Design snap connectors on their cameras so I'd say they must be doing well.I will probably order the sling in the near future.
