I live in a tourist area in Florida. One of the biggest issues for restaurants and stores darkness in the winter months. People simply will not walk the streets when it's dark, so they go back to their rooms. Point in case, a week ago, you could hardly find anyone walking around at 7:00 pm in Clearwater Beach. Last evening, I went walking at about 7:30 and the beach walk was very crowded as were the restaurants, several with waiting lines. Yes, there are more people here this week, but no matter how many are here, they stay indoors when it's dark.
I just wish Indiana would pick one or the other and stick with it. The northwest and southwest corner decided to stay with central time while the rest went eastern. They once gave the counties a choice and what a "Charlie Foxtrot" (as we used to say in the Army) that turned out to be.

I agree. I might add that the Evansville and Gary areas are apparently smarter than the rest of the state.
We’re back in Arizona for a couple of months - what is daylight savings time???
Just add a half hour to Standard Time, split the difference, and leave it alone after that.
This one, AGAIN!! Help!! It's almost as sensible as Canon vs Nikon! You may set your clock to anytime you desire. Just remember the adjustment. I still have not reset my watch and I may not. It does not matter. When I look at it, I know it is 1 hour slow. No offense Swede, but I'd rather discuss whether Tiger can (again) win the Masters. I think he can!!

Personally, I don't care. If the article's claim that a 1-hour time change "can make people sick", is linked to depression, etc., should we also stop traveling more than a few miles from home so our circadian rhythms aren't disrupted? Traveling north/south or east/west will change the sunrise/sunset times relative to our circadian rhythms. Gimme a break!
Lee,
Both are a close second! But chocolate is better than anything!

We never should have had it in the first place. A day is only 24 hours long, and no matter how smart the politicians think they are, it's still only 24 hours. If given the opportunity, I would vote to go with STANDARD time year round.
As I recall DST was instituted during WW2, but I forget the reasons given at the time. There must be variations of high noon at different longitudes given our time zone system. How many degrees of longitude does each zone comprise and are all equal.
Is your "Charlie Foxtrot" the same as the "Tennesse Quick Step."

The answer is "NO". It is impossible to save daylight by moving the hours. Here in East Tennessee it was pitch black dark at 8am this morning. We need to move the country to standard time and stay there.
Why would you not want daylight in the early evening during late Spring and Summer months? Here in the northern mid-Atlantic we enjoy some longer daylight after a long and dreary Winter.
