If interested in astronomy take a drive out to Kitt Peak and visit the observatories, about a 45 minute drive from Tucson.

Pima Air Museum - lots (and I mean lots) of old planes on display including a former Air Force 1.
Arizona Sonora Desert Museum - early AM or late afternoon is best as a lot of animals are sleeping and not visible during miday.
U of A - lots of architecture type shots

go to the caverns east of Tuscon. Mount Lemon. Get someone to take you through the Air Force Bone Yard.

what part of the park West or East?. Asarco Mineral Discovery Center near Sahuarita is good, The Desert Museum is awesome, in the East Park Colossal Caverns, and just south on hwy 90 Karchner caverns, almost anywhere in that area there are photo opportunities galore have a great time we just moved from Sierra Vista and the photo opportunies were the best part of living there.

Good suggestion. We took the shuttle up and back down to stop 2, got off and hiked the rest of the way down. Very beautiful.

Make sure you drive the "dirt road" circuit of Saguaro NP, west of Tuscon on the other side of the mountain. You will get the best views of all the cactus and can even stop, walk out among them and get some great angles. They are amazing to see. Do watch where you walk. There are some dangerous critters there. And some of the cactus will seem to jump out and get you. Have fun. Here is a "real old" cactus there.

Isn't the water ranch in Phoenix? Or is there another one in Tucson?

Yes - I caught my error after posting and did a retraction. Thanks.

If you like historical stuff, go down into the old part of town. Presidio, old houses with beautiful doors and decor, narrow streets with old-timey shops. It's really fun and you can certainly burn a lot of film there.

Another area of historic interest and beautiful old adobe homes is Barrio Historico. All the homes are brightly colored.

If memory serves me, there is a huge airplane "graveyard" west and north of Tuscon... I don't even know if it is open to the public, but if so, you could get some interesting photos there.

It is called the Davis Monthan storage facility. They do give tours but by appointment only. You have to contact the base to get the information. I had wanted to take the tour but never got around to it. I lived in Tucson for 15 years and it has a lot of great places to see. Sabino Canyon is a must see, so is the Xavier del Bac church at the Indian reservation, At the end of Alvernon Street in the foothills is a trail that you can hike on. I found out it is still open. Hike up the A on A mountain and you can see the city and as far as it goes. I lived in Tucson in the 70's and it was a small city. The view from A mountain gave me the view of a city growing by leaps and bounds. Have a good trip and I hope you really get to see the sights as there are a lot. I used to go to Old Tucson before it burned down. They have rebuild it and I have not seen the new one. That is another place to see and it is near the vicinity of the Desert Museum one of my favorite places to go.

Thanks for the link. I was not aware of his place. Nice to have something like that in Tucson. He has 8 acres and 2 bird blinds with feeders and water. He is a little N of Tucson. I went on his site and he has day rates and overnight rates as well as private one on one with him. For anyone interested it's $100.00 a day for day use and 250.00 for overnight and 500.00 for one on one.

There's a little park just west of Oracle on Ina that's worth a visit. Nice tea room. The name escapes me.
