These are from this past Monday at Merritt Island. It was quite windy which led to some ruffled feathers but otherwise, it was a pretty day. There were intermittent clouds which made frequent adjustments for the lighting necessary. The birds were not as plentiful as on some days but there were more than enough. I hope you enjoy them as I did!

wow you struck it rich that day, carol...excellent variety of those beauties, and that last shot is gorgeous!
Great set, Carol. What a treat to have a place close to shoot all these birds. Especially like the first image with the reflection, very nice. I guess, I'm just a sucker for reflections.

Beautiful set Carol, but I think #7 is a tri colored heron.
Thank you, Nim. #7 is definitely a Reddish. There are none of the normal throat markings of a Tricolor and also the color is different. He may appear a little darker in this shot than usual in real life. The lighting was overcast. It is hard to judge scale, but the Reddish is also a bit bigger than the Tricolor.

Thank you, Merry. 😊 It is nice that there is so much variety in a fairly confined area. We are hoping to go hiking over there later in the week. I took some shots of Wood Storks, too, but they were just plain ugly poses so I didn’t include them. The Storks can be very attractive but these were sulking.

I’m glad you like them, Rowedean! Reflections do add a lot of interest!

Great set Carol. It is not supposed to rain today so I think I will head down to the Black Point Drive myself. It looks like a great place for birding.
