Familiar faces....
These are from this past Monday at Merritt Island. It was quite windy which led to some ruffled feathers but otherwise, it was a pretty day. There were intermittent clouds which made frequent adjustments for the lighting necessary. The birds were not as plentiful as on some days but there were more than enough. I hope you enjoy them as I did!
A pretty Snowy Egret that just swallowed a small fish.

Green Heron - these guys sit in the mangroves just above the water.

When a tasty morsel swims below, the Green Heron strikes without leaving his perch.

This view of a Green Heron give a nice look at his sturdy feet and legs and the nice green coloring of his body.

Probably my favorite big bird, Great Blue Heron.

Reddish Egret - they don't normally stand still for long and I was fortunate to get a couple of shots before this one went into action.

A nicely posed Roseate Spoonbill (not to be confused with the pink flamingo lawn ornaments)

I have some very nice shots of another, more docile Snowy Egret but this on demanded to be posted!

Very enjoyable set Carol. It is always a treat to see the abundance and variety Southeastern U. S. birding has to offer.
The party was certainly on!
You are SO lucky to live near such exciting birds. Really wonderful photos of them!
Wonderful variety of gorgeous birds - and I enjoyed your factoids too!
Great shots. I can see why you could not resist posting the last one. A great, unique shot.
Beautiful faces and captures, Carol... especially the first with reflection!!
Enjoyable set!!

Thank you, Bill. That little Snowy was trying to pick a fight with all the other birds. They get pretty feisty this time of year and Snowys put on quite a show!

Thank you, Lillie Ann. Actually all of these were shot on Black Point Drive. It is my favorite hang out this time of year!
