Like UHH, another website with a great 'want ad' or 'for sale' section is: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/

This is primarily a Canon site, but there are ads for all brands of equipment. I have watched the site for 5 plus years and bought and sold gear using the ads section.

[quote=rgrenaderphoto]Wouldn't trust Craigs List with a 10 ft lens.]

I’ve sold two Canon cameras, one with a Tamron lens on, and two Tamron lenses and a Pelican case all on Craig’s list locally with no problem. In each case the buyer accepted my asking price and I ask for cash only. I have used a local mall, my local police station, my college alumni house and in one special case a famous restraunt half way between my home and the buye’s city. I have also sold items here, but Craig’s list saves me shipping cost and I get cash.

Me too for Ebay. Yes they take a commission but you do get something for the commission. I have sold some on UHH but you will sell lower than on Ebay even factoring in shipping and commission. No boos and hisses now! I avoid Craigslist whenever possible. The camera stores will give you the least amount as they are buying for resale. So Ebay is the way to go. If you generate enough interest here with your post, check the sold listings on Ebay for starting prices but plan to drop it. Good luck. Sure you want that D850 ?

Ebay takes a cut, but you have protection and verified payment via PayPal. I have sold items here, but will only accecpt payment via PayPal.

I ONLY use craig’s list. The last thing I bought was a Canon 1Dx. No way I’d buy that on eBay!!! I don’t even own a 10’ lens!!! LoL
Looking at a truck right now.

Want to swap brands as I find what I am using isn't working for my needs.
How to get the best value? ebay? BH, Amazon, here?

What Selling
Canon 7DMark II Body - two batteries, original box, cables, manuals.....
Tamron SP 150-600mm (original version) for Canon above
Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 for Canon

Sony A77 Mark II with 16-50mm f2.8 lens original box and items
Sony SAL 70-400G2 (works on full frame and crop sensor) with lens hoods and carrying bag

I found BH, KEH offer about 1/2 or less what they would sell the same item for used.
Understand I can't get original price but 1/2 or 1/3 seems really low.

I might consider trade as I want Nikon Equipment
Nikon D500 (or GASP.... Nikon D850?)
Need a macro lens, and my forte is Aviation, Birds. Cars, Scenic mostly so Sigman or Tamron 150-600mm G2 for a Nikon.

I am a hobbyist (well okay I sold ONE picture to someone!)
https://www.flickr.com/photos/fbergess

All of these pics taken with the gear above (and my Sony A900 too).
Gear is in great condition I just want better speed/reach.....

Look forward to ideas/suggestions..

Thanks
Frank
Want to swap brands as I find what I am using isn'... (show quote)

You might want to check out KEH, Adorama, or B&H. Adorama and B&H will trade and apply the money from the old to the new purchase. KEH will give you money for your equipment to spend where ever you want or you can use it to buy used Nikon equipment. Or as others have mentioned Amazon etc. With Adorama and B&H you can do it all in one transaction and (may) get a better deal. Good luck and welcome to the Nikon family.

I rented the Sony a77ii/70-400g2 combo last year...loved it. When I get my car paid off I'll start saving for the same (but you'll probably have yours sold by then)

TusconeCoyote,
Thank You.
Alas per my statement Sony has been less than good to me. My A900 is AWESOME, but after that the A77 - A77II did not meet my expectations.
Sony Service was HORRIBLE! They used to use Precision Camera (I think they went back to them now).

I have my SAL 70-400G go from bad to worse (eventually replaced by Sony)
then I bumped my SAL 70-200G lens while sitting down and it was BAR (Beyond Economical Repair) ?
The bump was about 4-5 inches onto the table top? Cost to repair would have been over 2000?
II thought the G Series were PROFESSIONAL GRADE?

Then Sony's response was to just sell new gear (E Mount) which is now getting 5 STAR Ratings!

I can't afford to just buy new gear if something fails. (maybe once I win the lottery I can afford sony again).

So I shifted to Canon.
For my favorite subjects the Canon 7DMII doesn't quite make the cut.
I have missed a couple of SUPER shots due to focus issues and its annoying.

So now I wish to try Nikon.
If money wasn't an issue then a Nikon D5, perhaps if I can save enough (or sell enough) a Nikon D850 would fit almost all of my needs (body wise)
The D500 crop will work great for those action and extra reach needs :o)

Or maybe I just have that child like need to buy new toys! er uh TOOLS Yeah that the ticket!

If I was to stick with Sony the A7RIII and a Sony A-Mount to E-Mount adapter might work.

Ah well will see what the stars have in my future.

What do you think?
Any specific suggestions for camera body, lens.....?

Frank

Kuzano,
Thanks for all the great info. I will dig into eBay and research my items going rates. That's always a good start! Setting up a PayPal might encourage me to sell some other stuff I have been acquiring for years.
Haha.

Thanks
