Want to swap brands as I find what I am using isn't working for my needs.
How to get the best value? ebay? BH, Amazon, here?

What Selling
Canon 7DMark II Body - two batteries, original box, cables, manuals.....
Tamron SP 150-600mm (original version) for Canon above
Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 for Canon

Sony A77 Mark II with 16-50mm f2.8 lens original box and items
Sony SAL 70-400G2 (works on full frame and crop sensor) with lens hoods and carrying bag

I found BH, KEH offer about 1/2 or less what they would sell the same item for used.
Understand I can't get original price but 1/2 or 1/3 seems really low.

I might consider trade as I want Nikon Equipment
Nikon D500 (or GASP.... Nikon D850?)
Need a macro lens, and my forte is Aviation, Birds. Cars, Scenic mostly so Sigman or Tamron 150-600mm G2 for a Nikon.

I am a hobbyist (well okay I sold ONE picture to someone!)

All of these pics taken with the gear above (and my Sony A900 too).
Gear is in great condition I just want better speed/reach.....

Look forward to ideas/suggestions..

Thanks
Frank

Try here it's free. Amazon and Ebay take a cut. Also your local Craigs List.

Wouldn't trust Craigs List with a 10 ft lens.

Ebay takes a cut, but you have protection and verified payment via PayPal. I have sold items here, but will only accecpt payment via PayPal.

Frank, I have had very good luck selling on Ebay. Just do a search for your item and you will see what the competition is selling the same stuff. Then I list mine lower.

The UHH Buy/Sell classifieds are not the fastest sales venue, but the buyers and transactions are generally reliable. Realize that if you buy a camera for $2,500, you are not realistically going to recoup $2,495 when you sell it. Ebay Closed (completed) sales are a pretty good gauge of prices on the street. I’d be careful of Craigslist, unless you can control the transaction in a safe, public environment. Good luck.

You have a bad case of GAS ......sell the Tamron and get the Canon 100-400 II with 1.4X III and you are done - OR, sell the 70-400 Sony and get the Tamron 150-600 G2.

eBay is fine if you are willing to part with approximately 10% and I guess that's better than getting only half elsewhere. I recently bought a lens on eBay that supposedly had image stabilizer and it did not. With eBay's help I shipped it back at the seller's expense and got a full refund of $642. Took about 10 days so eBay's guarantee does work.

I use ebay and they do take a cut, and so does paypal. I have worked my way up to a pretty good kit over the years by buying low and reselling for at least same sometimes at a profit. They key to selling is lots of good photos of your gear and very detailed descriptions. You will likely do better selling individual pieces rather than an entire kit. I am in a similar situation. I am considering selling my Canon kit and switching to either Sony or Fuji mirrorless. Fuji for their sensor technology and Sony as a possible step up to full frame. My current kit is crop.

As previously suggested I would list these on UHH Classifieds. I recently cleaned out my camera closet and sold several lenses, a couple of bags, a Pentax 67, and other items within 10 days. Research the used prices and set your price accordingly. Post photos of the equipment. Specify PayPal. If you don't have a PayPal account, set one up. It makes the transaction easy. PayPal takes a small percent. Good luck.

Very Nice Taildragger in your Flickr album.

I've been buying and selling on eBay for near 20 years. Taught eBay at the local community college for 8 years. Over 1000 postive feedbacks for 100% and no significant fails/losses.

The marketing venues are numerous. Detest and don't trust craigslist. Buy occasionally on some forums, primarily to flip for more money. Resellers do NOT offer fair prices on buys and trades, because they must pay rent, salaries, and make a profit. No other significant auction sites. Selling on Amazon rife with scams and poor sellers, low ball buyers.

For me, only viable, controllable, fair method to buy and sell, WITH GREAT CARE, is eBay. eBay is also the most correct data base for value, since they list selling prices for 60 days on their sold listings, and have a mature sales system in place from listing to end of the transaction. If you can't find what your item will likely sell for on eBay (with a good listing) and then list and get close, you're doing something wrong.

I am also able to ferret out poor listings and get good buys. Most of what I sell in my camera biz are "flippable" items I buy on eBay and resell on eBay. I'm not afraid to say that, because that's what capitalism is all about.
