Wow, I am sure every camera made was named here on these 20 pages.
Any way, here was my best SLR's,
Minolta 110 slr,
Minolta SRT 101,
Maxxum 7000,
Minolta Dynax 9,
And my little favorite and first camera, Minox

Wow, Arch ... I didn't know that ... neat ....

er ... even the Third Party ones, or no?

If there is an adapter to put the lens on the FD mount body you can.
Nikon, Exacta, Pentax Screw, Leica Screw to name a few that will work just great. Also your meter works in P, A or manual.
Also all those lenses will attach directly to your EOS or any EOS camera and focus to infinity just fine and meter as noted above.
Have fun.

J for Junior? ... is this HS or College?

K1000 was a great camera, wasn't it?

Lacked all the frills of later cameras ....

But in its basic-ness - lay its usefulness ....

J for Journalism Class, high school. Loved the K1000 because it was basic. You learned how to use lighting and flash. Sometimes it made things to easy but other times you learned by the mistakes you made. It helped.

Ken ... Minolta named their AF cameras, Maxxum, only here, in the US ... in Europe - they were called Dynax ... in Japan - they were called - alphas ....

Which, I suppose, is why Sony kept the alpha name after the takeover ....

Check that ... but I think the Maxxum 7000 and the Dynax 9 - may well have been the same thing ....

Wow!!! ... How about that, Di?

A JOURNALISM CLASS - in HS, no less ... you lucky dog, you! ....

Nobody in any of my High Schools - ever offered anything like that!

If they had - I would've grabbed it, in a second!

That K1000 was as basic as it got, huh, Di?

I didn't read all 21 pages, but many of them, so I didn't see what I consider the best ever camera...Nikon F.
The F started a whole new genre and only got better with each "upgrade". Mine include the F, F2, 2 FE's, FA, FG, F100, D70, D200, D7200 and a D500.
Second place has got to be the Pentax Spotmatics. Pentax made it affordable to have quality.

And there's bound to be many more, too, JWD ... as I haven't gotten to all the responses, thus far (still working on it)

But, I think you'll be relieved to know the Nikon F (and derivatives) has been mentioned more than any other single camera ....

As you've also noted yourself - Pentax Spotmatics / K1000 have come in as a tidy second place ...

Then, would be Minolta ... and behind that - the various Canon offerings - the F1, the FTb, the A1, the T90 and a few later EOS models ....

Absolutely, without any doubt, this would be the Nikon F5! Used to have three of them. Also liked my good old Pentax Spotmatic. I have 2 F5s in my camera closet along with a Pentax Spotmatic. All work! YMMV.

A lotta good they're doing in your closet, Chris ....

If you're not using them, anymore ... why not donate them to a local HS or college, or a photography group, even .....

Yes, Ira ... the Nikkormat line was always my favorite Nikon camera, too ... you didn't have changeable prisms or screens or motor drives ... but, you had a robust camera ...

With a titanium shutter, no less! ... none of those cloth things like in the big Fs ... which small kids always loved to poke to see them indent ... drove me bonkers!!!!!

There were several different models thru the years ... don't even remember them all ... but I had four ... the last was the EL ... which I have, now ....

I have always thought Nikon should have kept the line ... you always knew what you were getting - Nikon quality, at a lesser price point ... but still - NIKON ....

When they dropped it ... they just muddied the waters - as far as all other models - which weren't the F line .... silly marketing decision, if you ask me ...

Oh, this is to JWD, is it, Therwol?

Just wanted you to know - I'm still working on it ....

I DO plan on getting to them all ... will catch up, eventually ....

Not many folks read the whole thread, Therwol ...

But, I'm sure - those who do - on THIS one, at least - are richly rewarded ....

It was part of the English Dept. and completed part of the requirements for graduation. We did the yearbook and a weekly school paper published in conjunction with the local paper. I think the weekly paper has become a monthly flyer passed out at school, but the yearbook is strong.

We had access to a Mamiya Camera and a Canon Camera. I did not like how they handle so I adopted the Pentax.

In my 64 years of using cameras, in the film days, I shot more award-winning images with my Canon AE-1 than with any other. I preferred shooting with Kodachrome 64, but I also used K-chrome 25 and 200. When I shot on Ektachrome I developed and mounted my own slides. Still, I have fond memories of that AE-1.

Just saying that there is plenty about the Nikon F and successors. Enjoy.
