I am sorry - and a bit embarrassed. This conversation has become too intellectual for a person of my less-than-stellar level of intelligence. While I would like to continue to follow this conversation, I must do so in the shadows and withhold further input. I must, however, make one observation. It seems that one or two of the contributors is reverting to pseudointellectualism, a device often used by those with limited education, training and/or practical experience to properly express themselves.
Perhaps a bit of humor is in order- to offset some of the other back and forth.
A billionaire business mogul found that is palatial living room to be rather bare- austere, in terms of wall décor. He understood that “art” was the “in thing” to own and display in high society and it could be a good investment as well. Not knowing much about “art” he enlisted the expertise of his wife- a long time aficionado and patron of the arts, to make some acquisitions to adorn their home.
The next day, he returned home and found 2 enormous “abstract” oil paintings prominently displayed in his living room. One depicted a thin horizontal red line on a black field. The other had the same red line but and additional white dot about 2/3 into the composition.
Not wanting to seem totally uninformed or visually inept, he complimented his wife's choice with some reluctance in his voice and inquired as the her investment. She said they were a bargain a 12 million dollars for the pair. At that point he was taken aback and questioned the price stating that anyone can create such images with a paint roller and a string. She retorted, “but dear, this is the work of a prominent word acclaimed artist- his work hangs at the Guggenheim Museum, The Metropolitan, the Louvre...the design, the sense of balance and color, the contrast, the composition- The UTTER SIMPLICITY! Simplicity is SO important”! The billionaire pondered, stroked his chin and said “let's compromise...the one with the single line stays, the one with the additional dot goes back...I find it too busy”!

No, they are being evaluated on their aspirations and area of accomplishment. We compare Cy Young to other baseball pitchers, not to basketball guards. We compare Johnny Wooden to other college basketball coaches, not to professional baseball managers

That you have clarified your original comment is well and good enough ... other comparisons of baseball and basketball
have no standing in the observations.

Just as comparisons of art photography and street photography would have no place here.

There can be no intelligent observation except your observation, Ariel.
