I don't blame the illegal immigrants, they are merely seeking a better life for themselves and their families, however a country without borders can not exist as a free country without some control over it's boarders. Many of the so called illegal immigrants want to work and fit into the USA, and a certain percentage want a free hand out and for the country to conform to them (I believe the percentage to be small), however it is the responsibility of the government to protect the borders and there were laws on the books that were never enforced and that in itself is a crime. I don't have a solution and I feel for the so called "Dreamers" and maybe a path to citizenship should be given to them (after all they were brought into the country by their parents and were not responsible for breaking the boarder laws).

My proposal that I wrote here is what I think would work now....I despise it...but if we don't negotiate nothing will get fixed...once it's fixed...then the bleeding into thi s country will cease...but it must be fixed....secure the border. I been around enough to know that there are plenty of Americans that have latched onto the government you and would rather stay there than take a job...so the whole taking the American jobs is not 100% true...if anyone doubts that they need to get out and about more
I fully understand what illegal is....I also fully... (show quote)

This was not at all the point of this thread. The point was to try to let people know that if they are heading toward national parks, they should call ahead and make certain whether they are still open. A huge amount of the political discussion here is garbage. It is far more complex then what most people have simplified it to be, and it requires far more to tell then what is possible in this venue. Stop the discussions and call the parks.

I apologize. I got caught up in this too and engaged in a conversation that should not be placed here, and that was outside the bounds of the original intent. I do want to say also, though, that you are correct that this is far more complex than people are aware of. Anyway, hopefully it won't last long and we can get back to the parks, and taking beautiful pictures in beautiful places.

Please don't confuse libs with the facts. It ruins their narrative and talking points they get from the fake news.

You are close with that statement...replace "libs" with "politicians" and you are 100% correct.

The dem's don't care one iota about the dreamers. That concept is ludicrous. They care about embarrassing the President, making him look bad, and as soon as possible get rid of him. Period! They don't care. This country has been swept into a lie that is unproportional to anything that has come before into this world. People aren't thinking clearly.

You guys, righwingnuts, are so ignorant to way things really work that I have given up trying to reason with y’all, I just laugh my ass off at your ignorance. Getting an education in a red state is almost impossible. LOL

You are correct ... it's the dumb-a-rats that caused the problem in the first place! At least we won't be further in debt now...with the shut-down and all. I have a feeling this is going to be a fire storm! lol ë¿ë

Shutdowns always end up costing the taxpayers. If the shutdown lasts very long, government employees must be paid overtime to catch up. There is cost involved in restarting various functions which were running smoothly before the shutdown. Government contractors aren't working and will lay off employees. Parks fees are not collected, etc., etc. Only very misinformed people think that a shutdown saves taxpayer money!

Congress can pass a piece of legislation that makes sure the troops get paid.

Bet they do!

Why haven't the "dreamers" taken citizenship? Illegal that long they must know that eventually something is going to be done about them. 50/50 they would not like it.

If you decide to rob a bank, and bring your seven year old along for the ride, is your kid guilty of bank robbery? Well, that is how many of you classify the Dreamers as illegals because their parents brought them here. They are as guilty as that hypothetical seven year old. What most of you don’t understand when you whine about them not becoming citizens, is that there has never been a path to citizenship for them. They have been living in limbo for decades, contributing, for the most part, as you or I, without the rights we take for granted. So, cut the political shit and think like the human you are supposed to be. And, if you believe budgets are made without riders, you are extremely naive. Every bill has pork barrel attached. That is how you get our representatives to sign off on them. Things like “Don’t close that air base in my state.” or “Give me funds for the bridge to nowhere.” Or, here’s a biggie: “Make sure real estate developers have income tax loopholes, or I won’t sign it.”

Basically I'm tired of all this but...
If your 7 year old is still riding along on bank robberies at 18 he's a criminal, OK!
At 18 he should find a way to become legal if he wants to stay even if it means going elsewhere and applying! Stop DREAMING!
Unfortunately all bills have pork barrels of some sort, that's why the government is shut down, What I and others say is that pork barrels should be eliminated, let each issue stand alone!

Now let's let this die, two days is too much!

You left wackjobs are so clueless in your goose stepping obedience!

Baltimore, Chicago, L.A............it actually IS impossible to get an education in a blue state, but even the attempt at an education is based in the brown shirting of your unions!

TFU.

[oh, by the way........there isn’t even a DACA bill available to be voted on!]

I mentioned dem's, and that makes me a right wing nut job? I don't think I have ever said anything on this forum, and I am trying not to, that would indicate any too much about where I stand. What is the point? It has been brought up again and again that this is not the area for this discussion. I could be just as disparaging about the Republicans, but I was just making a point. The dems don't care! That doesn't mean the repubs do. If you want to make a point don't jump to conclusions.
