yes i got couple of epson printers too, like 3880 and 1400, but when i removed the printhead from my 1430 to cleaning and injecting cleaning fluid to the holes, after installing printhead back and installing cartridges, because you have to remove them before cleaning the printhead as you know, all cartridges are not recognized

FYI, you don’t have to remove the printhead to clean it or to inject cleaning fluid into it. There are lots of Youtube videos that demonstrate how it’s done. Now I wonder if you have created an electrical problem somewhere during the cleaning process or the rewiring? The other thing that I wonder about is; after you load the cartridges, close the lid and turn on the printer, does the start button continue to flash and are you remembering to push the ink button to activate the printer?

I have the same printer and made the same changes as you, but have had NO issue with any cartridges and I use the remanufactured ink cartridges. Sorry that I don't have a method plan to help you with your issue.

My wife and I each have Epson Artisan 810 printers. We only use genuine ink cartridges, not remanufactured ones. On occasion, her printer refuses to recognize a cartridge but when I insert that same cartridge in my printer, it works perfectly. I’ve done extensive research on possible causes for printers not recognizing cartridges, but haven’t found any solution that works. Epson would probably want me to send it in to their repair center, but that’s too much of a hassle for me. Warranty expired long ago. They are just finicky printers.

wrun72 When cleaning did you remove only the cartridges or have you actually removed and refitted the printhead?
We need to clear that point before we can make any suggestions.

wrun72 I'm truly sad to say it but I think you have a major problem. I suspect there is a mis-alignment problem. Not just the normally adjustable mis-alignment where you print a test image and reset the printer. I haven't checked yet on the 1430 but I would expect the ribbon cables feeding to the printhead may be mis-aligned. I have had to junk printers in the past because a track in a ribbon cable had broken and although a new cable was quite cheap the special equipment to align it was not and the cost of a printer engineer with that kit was just not viable.
When the printhead was out were there positive pegs or notches to align the printhead for re-fitting?
At the moment I can see two possibilities. One is contacting a printer engineer in your area and checking to see if it is a viable repair. The other possibility is that it is a programmed response or confusion in the firmware within the printer. If that is the case, and it is just a very slim possibility, perhaps a 'reset' programme such as is required when the printer starts telling you parts inside the printer need servicing or replacing and the printer refuses to operate. That is not the message you are getting but just perhaps a 'reset' on the settings might clear a 'tamper' response.
Have you tried a complete set of new or different cartridges that have never been fitted to this printer.
Just to be really clear, I gather from your posts that you can fit any five of the cartridges and the printer accepts them. The flashing indicator relative to those cartridges goes out. When you fit a sixth cartridge the printer flashes all six indicators to show they all have a problem.
Please let me know.

wrun72 The printer will never say the cartridge is missing. It just reports a problem, usually saying it is not recognised when it may really be saying it is empty.
I am trying to think through the odd response that cartridges are recognised until all six are in place.
Are there any alignment pegs or whatever to ensure the printhead is automatically aligned when fitted/refitted?

wrun72 I think you may need a printer engineer. Ask for a 'budget' price or a fixed price up front so that you can assess whether the repair cost is viable.
I think there may be one or more 'neutral' connections not connected at the printhead. The power feed connections are all connected hence all the cartridges register. When the sixth cartridge is fitted the neutral links cannot carry the returning signal current and the whole set overloads. Then none of the cartridges will operate. The neutral return connections are grouped together but usually at the printer end. It is frustrating that it is so near to working. Look for a 'local' printer engineer or more than one to gauge the response and charges.
I have sold 'old' printers to an engineer for him to use the printhead in other printers. They are not always very expensive. Contact several if you can.
Please let me know how it goes.
