Why not change the way ignore works by allowing ignored members to post to his threads and just not show them to him? Done.

But how do we do that? I am new here.

Admin has to do that...not sure that the forum software can do that.

Easiest way is to have Admin talk to him to see if he is willing to change his ways.

This reads like a cabal.

I simply disagree.

Anyone who is upset with chris t and is upset should use two types of ignore:
- Ignore feature
- Ignore post made somewhere else

I use both on a couple of folks. Try it. It works.

The most annoying part about chris t is not his proliferation of threads or posts but (are) the successive anti-chris t threads that attract attention to him more than anything else.

Those whose skin is thin are the most annoyed, the others really so not give a crap about it, one way or another so, just let it go once and for all.

As to bad information.... Since when UHH users have been given good information as a whole? Are all the threads not degenerating quickly and hard to 'fish' for the 'good stuff'?

Oh OK thanks. I respond to his thread asking about strap. I gave him my honest answer and respectfully ask him for his answer. I hope he doesn't put me on his list.

No. That would be a disservice to a lot of good people.
But, to censor a person because one doesn't agree, like, or value his opinion; or that the person is obnoxious, is never good.
Who can judge? The Administrator should take control.

Censure in this case is necessary to control undesirable behaviors. The admins in these forums typically allow ad hominem attacks and other undesirable behaviors, and rarely get involved. But in the case of The Disturbance, this guy has been enabled to conduct his surveys, post incorrect information as fact, and berate anyone who disagrees with him. I converse with lots of people who's opinions I disagree with, but I try to keep the conversation civil and avoid resorting to personal attacks. Not this guy. And it does seem that no amount of trying to reason with him has any effect on curtailing his behavior. This forum has become ALL ABOUT CHRIS T to it's own detriment.

I am gone for the next 30 days. I hope this joker is gone by then. If this is what the admin wants, then I'm outta here.

The ignore doesn't work if you just click on the main photography forum link at the top. Fix that, and the problem of seeing his crap goes away.

This was a serious suggestion relating to having new members able to read both sides of an argument. It may not be possible depending on how much control the sponsors of this site have over the actual coding. Just spit ballin'.

As of this morning, he is doing fine.

Absolutely true. Chris T thrives on attention. Take away the attention and he will slowly fade away.

It does not hide threads, when you click on any section, that is true. When you use the newest topics it does. There is an (ignored) warning. Just heed it, part of being disciplined.

If you use 'Newest topic' the (ignored) threads are absent.

I read only 'newest topics'. I click on those that raise my interest and discard the rest. Once a week I purge my watched list so.... Folks I select to ignore are never there. Note that the 'newest topic' list everything you are subscribed to so there is no need to access each section list. 'Newest topic' also hides the (ignored) threads.

Why the difference? (Admin point of view?) It seems that the admin has decided that we should be keep seeing everything within a section, even the (ignored) since you request a list of all topics there. I understand his point of view . Since I rarely use a section listing I am not affected.

This is all on how you use UHH and understand the site features.

I've been on his ignore list almost from the start, but I'm starting to fall into "why all the complaints" camp. How are you all using the various views of this site? I've added membership to a number of specific sections. When I access the site by logging in, I see updates to topics from my participation via the Watched Topics view. I view new updates only to sections where I subscribe via the New Topics view. I don't have the user in question on my Ignore List. His nonsense doesn't "clog" either of my two preferred views.

Why is his nonsense bothering you all so much? I see Ron just made the same point in using the New Topics view.

That's a rhetorical question too on bothering. Each time another complaint post starts, I find and read some of the latest and am reminded again of the angst occurring across the community.

That would eliminate one tool we have to stop argumentative posters from driving formerly good threads into the Attic.

On that.... I have 'torpedoed' my own threads several times when I felt the threads became useless due to unwarranted posts.
