Trying to place a family member behind his family.
In other words, a family asked for their son to be placed in their photo.
However, the son's photo lacks parts, thus I am wanting to place just his head and some of the shoulder behind the family.
How do I do this?
I've searched until I am blue in the face and cannot come up with a YouTube that show how to do this.
I'm sure I am not asking the search the right question.
Does anyone have a link they like that will do as I described....?
Thanks in advance!

What software are you using for editing?
You will need a capable program like Photoshop, and an understanding of layers and masking.

Photoshop, or something similar like the free GIMP program, that you can work in layers, is the way to go....

is a sample of what can be done w/o much trouble Check the posts above tp learn how. It is not complicated BUT you need PC CC to do it or be able to adapt the steps to another program.

In a nutshell
You need the image of the person's head and body to be the same size as the family. (Enlarge or shrink to fit)
By creating a 'Layer' in Gimp (Free) or photoshop (pay for)
you 'cut n paste' your image into a photograph of the family. (usually behind the group)
The clever way would be to take a new photo of the family with either a similar built person in there too (so you just swop faces) or a big enough gap between two of the people. Put the persons face onto a 'body' and then add that image to the image of the family.(Watch backgrounds match or and there is no no 'halo')
It is a 'easy to do' but extremely hard to 'get right'.
Have fun

If you dont have software and of course you have no idea how to do it. Go to the post processing page here on UHH upload the pictures and ask for help
there are a lot of people that will do it for you. You will get a few different versions as different people do it different ways. Heck I might even give it a try too.
I can always use the practice. here is a link to a photoshop tutorial .

You might be able to do it with the content aware move tool in Photoshop. I've moved objects out of photos using it. I first did an expand canvas so I had an area outside of my photo to place the removed object. After I placed the moved object in the blank, expanded canvas area, I cropped out the expanded area.
I have not used that method to place objects in a photo. It might be possible. Maybe you could first place the person in the expanded canvas area and then do a content aware move to place the person in the photo. I think it would take someone who is very skilled at Photoshop.
Why don’t you upload the two images. I’m pretty sure there is one or more Hogs out there who will help you out and then tell you how they did. This pool of photographers has a wealth of friendly talent.

Photoshop or if you have Topaz there is Remask which is easier to use than Photoshop.
I can help you. Please check your private messages.

If you posted both images here and ticked the "store original" button so they are the best possible quality, perhaps a few here would take the challenge and try doing it for you.
