No problem (yet). with no complaints.

Photographer is one who makes photographs. But then you have to define what's is a photograph.
On a more serious side, I hope, is the resurgence of 3D photography. Right now crossing your eyes and taking two pictures with a time differential is the best we have. (Unless you go back to slides, then there is some quality.) Any attempts at 3D since slides have been rather pitiful in my opinion. Why are we stuck in two dimensions with all this new technology?

If forced to do so, California Law would define a photographer as anyone who claims, believes or imagines himself/herself/itself to be a photographer.
What does California say about illegal aliens??

A subsection of the law mandates that a gallery that hosts a photo contest must give all participants an “honorable mention” certificate suitable for framing. In addition, each gallery must provide a safe room for those photographers whose feelings were hurt by not winning 1st place.
Love it. Being proficient no longer matters.

California welcomes all aliens. Why do you suppose most all UFO'S are spotted over that state.
So? Go out, find a new horse, kill it and bring it here so we can start flogging it.
If you were really smart, you would bring the horse here before killing it. Less trouble that way. Before you do that, please issue a warning as I have zero interest in watching you kill a horse. Unless it's your hobby horse, of course.
I don't know that we need much more megapixels especially for the small sensors, we may be reaching a limit already. And there's plenty of detail in wgat is availabke now.
In 20 years cameras will go the way of the diaseaur. A lens will be implanted in your eye of choice. Its shutter speed will be determined by how long between blinks. Their will be an on and off button implanted in your ear. Just stick a finger in there to turn it on and off. In your other ear is the switch to download your images to a computer or any other device made at that time

Then why does every higher Nikon MP camera cause a mass dumping of the older Nikon instantly? And then claims of so much superior sharpness if there are enough MP, especially when it was at 36MP and Canon came out with 50MP the screaming was 36 MP was overkill even and nothing more was needed.
I will bet the next MP jump with Nikon will cause the same abandonment of the current MP camera like it was worthless.

Not art.
A photographer can make art but making art is not a requirement to be a photographer. A photographer must make photographs but what is a photograph I would leave that for all the UHH to decide.

I have a picture of my camera from 30 years ago, my camera 15 years ago, and my current camera. The colors are different, the shapes are different, the innards are most certainly different, but all are essentially the same; I wouldn't be at all surprised {if I'm around 20 years from now - I'm 70 years old right now} if adding another camera to the picture leaves the trend unchanged.
Rub in more Olive Oil...
A valid question being laughed at.
Looking forward and, yes, coming up with possibilities is just as acceptable as looking back in retrospect, attempting to understand the forces involved. As human being we tend to extend our views backwards and forwards in time. Contemplation is something that many cannot "get".
