I’d love to, but so many people know how laws are written in the state of Californication, they can’t think of a reasonable counter-argument. Besides, if we start discussing laws here, the opinions will be so “ interesting” this thread will end up in the attic.

Speculating can be fun. I'd like to see ultra-sensitive, ultra low noise sensors that don't have to be large to work well. Unfortunately, for us it's just speculation since we don't have the slightest idea how to achieve such a thing.

Well, the way my memory is going, in 20 years I won't have a clue as to what photography was so it is unlikely I will be concerned about what photography is at that time. Odds are, my biggest worry will be remembering my name!

The Canikolymptaxosnic Camera Company will preview their Photo Contact Lens with 8 Tb of internal memory. You will no longer need a camera, computer or any additional lenses, cables, etc to take pictures or movies. Just open your eyes and 'think" picture, and the image/video will be recorded. Blink to start capture, blink to stop. The 8 tb of working storage will be augmented by the 90% of unused memory in the brain. Accessories for future release will include a scalable sharing module that will allow you to share your images with anywhere from one to 100,000 other people, and automatic real time backup. There's more, but I don't want to give away any more info.

Hey! Everybody is late already... Look at the number of folks still shooting JPG when their camera gives then access to raw... Not to mention exposing to raw and... *groan* invariant sensor exposure

On the same vein, color was taken seriously only in the 70s... Before it was relegated to the 'family snap-shots'.

So looking into the future of way back then?

Who the hell knows so what is it with all the threads about the future of cameras, manufacturers and the like?

Beside, all the 'debate' participants in those threads will be dead or dying if I understand UHH demographics, me included, I hope.

In the mean time? Enjoy the non sense and the mayhem.

Oh, by the way, what is best? The N? The C?

Enjoy flogging the horse, it is long dead and if it moves, it is not because it is reanimated by your posts but because it is turning in his grave wondering when it will stop being savaged time and time again. Oh, I saw a nostril fly off the other day... Debate was about what to take in a trip.

One more thing (riiiiiiiight)... raw or JPG? How about SOOC or PP?

Finally, can someone please tell me what is a photographer?

Well, since you asked, here are my ideas about the features of future cameras
- more megapixels
- more terminology abbreviated to capital letters, with each company using its own terminology
- a new camera format that the old guard will be hesitant to embrace
- zoom range of 10 - 10,000mm
- higher prices

What is a photographer? A person with something that can take pictures.

I think that about covers it.

I don't care what happens in 20 years, I'll be 104 years old.

I just hope I can continue having sex in 20 years.

A photographer is one who takes photo's, and does not post idiotic posts like this one.

No worries there, virtual reality would already have taken over that part. Biology and all that stuff be damned.
