No, No, No

This the "Main Photography" section.
This where we are supposed to be talking about photography.

There is a separate section called "Chit Chat" for other talk!!

Sorry, I was mistaken. I thought I'd slipped into the "Chit Chat" section--this is not a good topic for photography and we should honor that.

It's now been pushed upstairs. Oh well. Happy New Year.

You need 10 million today to have the wealth of 1 million in 1940. I read somewhere that most Americans regard 2.4 million as wealthy

Its not wealthy. A 2.4 million net worth is just the leading edge of upper middle class in New York and New Jersey. Very comfortable, but far from being truly rich. Tuition and room and board at most non state universities is between $30,000 to $60,000 per year. So, say you have 3 kids and you want to put them into a a mid priced school at $40,000 per kid per year, that comes to almost a half million dollars in total. A house that may cost $450,000 on an acre in Iowa might cost over $900 on a 1/3 acre in New Jersey and could have annual real estate taxes of $35,000 or more a year. When you start looking at what $2.4 million buys you here, you quickly realize you are NOT wealthy.

Not in New Jersey I won't. Between loss of the state income tax deduction and cap on real estate tax deduction I will have at least $5000 less to spend next year, and compared to many here I'm one of the lucky ones. Don't mean to hijack this thread, but the idea that we will benefit from this new tax plan is a very sore subject in this state.

You just have way too much money. Guess that the NJ DemoCraps haven't raped your pocketbook enough.

Really. If you were here you wouldn't think I have way too much money. I can't afford to buy any new camera gear and my discretionary income which is probably no greater then yours will be lower this coming year.

Is there another time of year when we should keep our eye out for sales? For those of us who missed this one?

UIRCC, from my years doing online content decades ago for a big manufacturer, camera sales in the U.S. are scheduled for President’s Day, Father’s Day, sometimes graduation time- 7/4, Black Friday-Xmas(now apparently through 12/31).

The Feds rape NJ and NY taxpayers, to distribute their tax payments to the poorer states that contribute less.
