experienced without a wind chill. I'll start. While living in Summit County -40 was the maximum and this happened a half dozen times over a ten year period. At this temperature breathing in should be done carefully, the truck seat is rock hard and the clutch pedal on the truck is extraordinary hard to push in. Things just don't work normally. My truck did start on these occasions, but just barely. I didn't have a heater for the oil pan. vz
-60 in Jackson, WY. The electrical wires pulled out of transformers due to shrinkage. So then many pipes froze. A real mess.

I remember also at that time I was doing tree work and we would crawl under the truck and place our hands on the exhaust to warm them up...I wouldn't even think of doing that now....lol
Back in the winter of 1957-58 here in northern part of Northern New York the tem. get down to -50 below 0 at night , in the day -25 below with the sun out. I think it was in Jan. In Feb. of 1958 this area had so much snow the schools were close for a week.

When we moved into this house 25 years ago it was -20.
Iwas stationed on havre airforce station and -64 was common
Havre is one cold place not a tree or hill between bear paws and north pole
Btw in the summer hot dry and windy
But it has a strange kind of beauty to it

-40, in Whitecourt, Alberta. It was amazing to me that the Fahrenheit and Celsius scales are the same at that temp. :)
Rogers Pass is a mountain pass that rises 5,610 feet (1,710 m) above sea level and is located on the Continental Divide in the U.S. state of Montana.[1] The pass is adjacent to Helena National Forest and is traversed by Montana Highway 200. Wide shoulders provide parking for those wishing to hike the Continental Divide Trail. Bicyclists should note that the wide shoulders are limited to the very top and will not be found elsewhere on 200. The pass is the best route between the cities of Great Falls and Missoula, Montana—more than 800 feet (244 m) lower than Lewis and Clark Pass, 5.3 miles (8.5 km) to the northwest, which was used by Meriwether Lewis of the eponymous expedition on July 7, 1806.[2] Rogers Pass is known for being the location of the coldest recorded temperature in the United States outside of Alaska. On January 20, 1954, a temperature of -70 degrees Fahrenheit was recorded.
-38 while serving in Korea near the DMZ
Was in the Army stationed at Ladd AFB in Fairbanks in 1958/9 and -65 was the record then. I think it still stands. If it does or not, it was really cold! Glad I only had to walk 100 yards to the heated shop where we spent the day working..
