experienced without a wind chill. I'll start. While living in Summit County -40 was the maximum and this happened a half dozen times over a ten year period. At this temperature breathing in should be done carefully, the truck seat is rock hard and the clutch pedal on the truck is extraordinary hard to push in. Things just don't work normally. My truck did start on these occasions, but just barely. I didn't have a heater for the oil pan. vz

To catch the school bus we needed to walk to the main road-- maybe a tenth of a mile--- at -32°F one had to bundle up well and plan not to have to wait too long---(upstate New York)

Summit County Colorado?
Probably when we skied at Loveland Highlands in the late 90's. Super cold at the top where the snow was blowing sideways.

-40 or very close to it...
Last few days (and especially nights) we've even had some subzero temperatures here in Chicago with one exception last Friday.
I've been working outside on my truck, but after 3 days I got tired of wearing multiple layers of clothing and losing feel of my fingers while manipulating with cold wrenches, bolts etc. Got the job done though,😎 It starts now.. 😆

Yes, Summit County Colorado. I was a very avid skier then, logging at least 90 skier days or more a season. vz

In the 80s back in central Ohio, I remember -40 with a wind chill of -64. Last night here along the Mississippi we were -17 with a wind chill of -30. Tough time for our 6 month old puppy.

-64 near Havre, MT. Not much of anything was moving for a couple of days.

-65 when we lived in the Yukon. Zero wind at those temperatures. This wasnt normal. A normal winter wasn't much cooler that -40 to -45. Everyone still went to work or school like normal. No big deal, you learn to live with it.

Back in High School as Yearbook photographer, several times I'd shoot the ski team with my Yashica D, (Analog with 120 Film). The temps ranged from the low 30'sF and often as low as -10F at night.

With present day digital cameras, I've photographed around -10.

Just yesterday, (12/31/2017), for about two hours I photographed pro drag race snowmobile's tuning up on a frozen lake in SE Michigan, (Anchor Bay area), with my Pentax K1. Temp was around zero degrees F. *(Wind chill around -5F.)

After driving around to warm up, I returned to attempt the sunset. Temp was about the same.

-30 years ago when my daughter was in grade school. Husband was away on business and we had a wood stove that was inefficient to say the least. I had to put a heavy curtain over the living room doorway and we huddled in there to keep warm. It was so cold that the toilet drain froze! At the time we were living in a ca. 1828 brick farm house that we were renovating and being that old, it was difficult to keep a comfortable temperature level. The forecast is for a 10 degree high and a -7 degree low on the day we come back from Scotland. Welcome home!!

For me it would have been around -30 F in Southern Ontario, Canada. That would have been in the early 1960s.

I'm sorry. 90 days huh? All that hard work. Musta been grueling. How did you ever handle all that sunshine? And all the snow bunnies?
Again my friend. I'm sorry.

I was in the ski industry at the time and it was requested that I familiarize myself with all the makes and models of skis we sold. With plenty of time to do this, it was a dream job. The snow bunnies were icing on the cake. I married one of them. vz
