Would a stunt double step in? Not without a good amount of money involved and many concept rehearsals!! Even then, would be much inclined to walk away, as opposed to being carted away.
You've nailed it !!! Indeed, they
ARE "stunts" aren't they ???
And obviously frought with potential danger. It's just another form of "extreme" behavior for folks who likely need to be pumped with adrenaline to "feel" anything.
Stunt people take what they do seriously - - they don't go about their work like these "amateurs" do - - without planning and safeguards.

Of course, that would require a warm weather wedding. : )
Confused, in the end they prove what?

Carter, I am always attracted to the unusual or creative way to express yourself in photography. Your photo immediately attracted my attention. Excellent photo, composition and execution of this one!
I have no experience with wedding photography but am also drawn to the unusual and the creative. I like the idea as a different kind of expression. I also like the initial photo.

Hello all.
I would like to start a discussion thread about this exciting genre of photography. I've done a large number of them in addition to wedding pictures and plan to post examples ranging from mild to extreme. It involves brides, prom queens, flower girls, and more. I would be happy to explain how I go about it to get truly amazing photographs and would like to hear from others from those new to it to those who have done them. Any questions or comments are most welcome.
Thanks,
Carter

You go for it. Anything that provides interest and beauty to our world.
These pictures were taken of my nieces wedding over in Scotland, I have her permission to use. I thought they were done very tastefully and were very intrigued by the photographer taking them......I'm sorry I can't tell you whether or not he was in the water with her or taking them like we do at a aquarium. ( will ask her when I see her ) ...Note, I did not take these pictures...

A couple years back I heard that a skilled bride, groom, and photographer, jumped from an airplane. While going down she stripped off the gown and threw it away. The dress naturally flew straight behind her and ended up covering the groom.
If I remember correctly, the groom was finally able to shed the gown a few hundred feet above the ground and then pulled his parachute cord. Must have been very memorable!

If he pulled the cord at much less than 3500 feet, she was not a bride, she was a widow.

These situations need to be carefully managed, and clearly can go badly wrong. Also, it does depend on the dress. Would someone gladly do that with a $5000, $10000, or more expensive dress? A cheap or second hand one maybe, but it is wise to be very careful of stunts, such as having a photograph taken on a rock by the Pacific Ocean. It sounds great until she gets swept away and drowns...
You don't want wedding photographs to qualify for a Darwin award.
This is one of the stranger wedding cliches out there. But if it's done safely, and "floats her boat," so be it. A fool and her money are soon parted.
My goodness, humans are so ritualistic! We do the same things, just like someone else did them. Ask yourself: Is that really necessary?
I may be mistaken but I don't think the intent Here had anything to do with a wedding
Not sure "exciting" is the word I would use.
I think comparing the very very few exceptions to all the thousands of wonderful sessions done with Trash the Dress gives a very false impression and does a great disservice to those who know what they are doing. I've done many dozens of these and all had a great time creating some awesome pictures. I've not had a single mishap and don't know of anyone who does this who has. I don't use fire or have the bride plunge off cliffs. I've included flower girls, too and they loved it all dressed up including dress shoes. My clients always wear complete outfits. Anything else is cheating. They all get soaked and/or muddy and nothing got ruined. So if you don't approve that's your business. This genre won't be any less popular for it.
I'll post more picks so you can see what this usually looks like. But don't be calling people stupid because they want to step out of the box for once. If you want to stay in yours please feel free to do so.
