Hello all.
I would like to start a discussion thread about this exciting genre of photography. I've done a large number of them in addition to wedding pictures and plan to post examples ranging from mild to extreme. It involves brides, prom queens, flower girls, and more. I would be happy to explain how I go about it to get truly amazing photographs and would like to hear from others from those new to it to those who have done them. Any questions or comments are most welcome.
Thanks,
Carter

That must take some convincing to talk a bride into walking into a, probably chilly, river wearing her bridal best.

While talking to another wedding photographer who often did trash-the-dress, he told me one bride had many eyes on her as she jumped into a pool and ALL eyes on her as she left the pool.

Not wearing underwear and a thin wet bridal gown looked better than a wet tee shirt contest.

Did you hear about the shoot where the bride drowned, weighed down by the weight of her wedding dress? Perhaps not a great idea!

Their purpose doesn't matter! It's a way to get more dollars in the pocket of the wedding photographer as long as it's don't safely.

IE: (Safety)

A couple years back I heard that a skilled bride, groom, and photographer, jumped from an airplane. While going down she stripped off the gown and threw it away. The dress naturally flew straight behind her and ended up covering the groom.

If I remember correctly, the groom was finally able to shed the gown a few hundred feet above the ground and then pulled his parachute cord. Must have been very memorable!

I don't think one incident out of several thousand sessions world wide makes it a bad idea.

Would a stunt double step in? Not without a good amount of money involved and many concept rehearsals!! Even then, would be much inclined to walk away, as opposed to being carted away.
