Okay just saying that over the years you have amassed 15+(film/digital) cameras or so, different brands, for arguments sake- 3 Sony. 6 Canon, a couple Pentax, and 10 Nikon (2 SLR) / would you use them all, any favorites, or any?

Have you ever used any of them?

If so what would be your favorite? If so why?

Favorite subject matter?

Would you post your work on a site like this? If not where?

Should each camera get equal air time for the same subject matter under the same conditions?

Swede

Is this a valid question?

Have you ever used any of them?

Canon (4 film, 7 digital), Nikon (5 film, 4 digital), Polaroid (4), Minolta (1), Pentax (2), Yashica (2 TLR), Mamiya (2), Bronica (2), Calumet (1), Camerz (3), Beattie Systems (1), Fujifilm (2 film, 1 digital), Panasonic (3 digital), Petri (1 film), Olympus (2 film, 3 digital)

If so what would be your favorite? If so why?

Panasonic GH4, because it does what I need: an equal mix of stills and videos.

Favorite subject matter?

Process Training, events, and Photojournalism

Would you post your work on a site like this? If not where?

No. I only post on proprietary client sites. If I post here, I’m explaining something, not showing my pretty pictures.

Should each camera get equal air time for the same subject matter under the same conditions?

No. Not all cameras are suited for uses in the same circumstances.

Is this a valid question?

Surely!

For the 35mm cameras I have Canon, Minolta, Pentax, Olympus and Nikon. I use Nikon most often. Equally Minolta and Pentax. Sometimes the Olympus but never the Canon. I think I would give the Canonflex a try. I don't care using the 3 Canon A series (A1, AE-1 and AE-1P).

Yep, me too. This is something he would post.

Now, as to the original question. 5 Canon's and they are all used for different situations.

When I retired in 2006 my daughters thought I needed a hobby so they bought me a Canon XSI and gave it to me at my retirement party. I have upgraded several times through the years, and thoroughly enjoy the hobby and occasionally post a good (to me) image on UHH. I have no experience with other brands, and if my daughters had given me a Nikon, Pentax or an Olympus or whatever, I would probably have been using those brands for the last 12 years.

Good topic!

I have several old cameras.
For film I use the Canon FTb or an EOS Rebel.
Work - Canon EOS 10D
Fun - Canon EOS 7D

I own a wide variety of cameras and brands. Use them once in a while if film is still available.
They are used to introduce scouts and other youth to camera history and photography.

I do the same with firearms from very old antiques to modern to the same types of groups.

Going back ten years, I've had forty-four digital cameras, currently seventeen of different types. My "real" cameras are a Nikon D750 and a D5600. If I want good pictures, I bring the D750. If I need something compact, I bring one of the others.

I like my Sony A99 and A77II cause I can see what I'm getting exposure wise before I shoot. Even in automatic modes you can see what your getting before you shoot it, I also like the fact that I can use older Minolta AF lenses on these two camera's without an adapter, love the 20 mm 2.8, the 50 1.4, the 50 and 100 macro's. I got all four lenses from a old timer at a garage sale for $50.00, what a deal.
I like the Canon 7D mark II but I gave it up in favor of the Nikon D500, love that camera with the Nikon 200-500 mm zoom. Best priced wildlife combo in the world.
Love my point and shot Sony compact camera's, they go on vacations and trips, I can strap two of them on small pouches on my belt and hold my wife's hand at the same time. These are a few of my favorite things.

I have never used a brand other than Canon dating back to my AE-1 days, which I still own 35 years later. Currently, I have three digital Canons after years of buying cheaper digital point and shoot (Fuji, Kodak, and others) finally deciding that I missed being able to take really good pictures with control over ISO, shutter speed, and aperture. Currently, I have a Power Shot SX60 HS, T6s, and a 6DmkII. As you can see, I don’t own the top of the line in the Power Shot, crop frame, or my full frame. I shoot for enjoyment rather than a living so these cameras serve me well. I felt that these cameras would meet my needs which they have wonderfully. I have taken great pictures with each of them. I often give pictures as gifts, etc. I don’t make money off of them. The T6s has been an amazing camera/value for the money. It should have probably never been labeled a Rebel. It is more akin to the 80D than even the T6i. Compared to the slightly more expensive 80D, the T6s has the same sensor, a few more features, a few less features that were not important to me, and is smaller, which is nice when traveling. The 6DmkII is just a great all around full frame for an amateur. Yes, I still want a 5DmkIV some day, but would probably op for the 5DSR for the 50.2 megapixels since I tend to shoot more landscapes than sports or people. Where I do not skimp in the least is purchasing lens. I do own some EF-S lens for the T6s, but they are the better quality ones. All of my full frame lens have red lines around them or they are the best in the Tamron or Sigma lines! Regardless of what cameras I ever own, my lens will serve me well as long as I stay with Canon cameras. So why Canon? Honestly, for my photography purposes, I am sure that every brand has models that would meet my needs. I see great pictures made with all brands; therefore, I will not engage in the my camera is better than your camera argument! Canon was my choice because I started with the AE-1 by chance over Minolta and Pentax. My two best friends when in our early twenties had the other two brands of SLRs. I always though my pictures were better! I was shooting with a Canon so it obviously had to be the best camera (LOL)! Well, I obviously had a lot to learn, but apparently had the better head start. As I got into purchasing digital camera equipment, I was already familiar with Canon. My camera dealer shoots primarily with Canon so I have a wonderful resource. So therefore, I just stayed with my old tried and true and I have remained pleased. I will probably stay with Canon since I have a nice collection of EF and EF-S lens. I have come to the conclusion that quality glass is the crucial component of photography at my level. Good question, yes! It is interesting to read the perspectives of others.

Valid question? A question that has no answer but only biased personal opinions and likely to off another Brand A is better that B, which is better than C. This is like asking for the meaning of life.
