Advise vs. Advice
Biogon44...............I feel your pain.............such simple stuff. And I know we will probably get skewered on "it doesn't matter that much; people don't worry about spelling...........yada, yada, yada............." It doesn't take any more time to do it correctly than it does incorrectly. It just shows you don't care. Same for the abbreviations so many are using........"r u going tonite" I realize there are people that DO have difficulty spelling............I realize that there may be some here where English is NOT their first language (but I'm willing to bet they do better with all this than those of us that are English-speaking people)..........I am not pointing the finger at those...........But there cannot be THAT many of them here.
I will go back under my rock now before I get pelted with over-ripe fruits and vegetables..............
Aint it the truth! (Did I misspell aint?)

I want to join your effort at correct grammar. The following are my two pet peeves:
1. 'for my friend and I' is really bad grammar. Apparently there is mass amnesia about the use of the objective case in grammar. What ever happened to the word 'me' (objective case). A preposition such as 'for'
always takes the objective case. It should be 'for my friend and me'. One sees the words 'for me', never 'for I' in writing. The same rule applies all the time.
2. 'Its' is correct English, when used in the context as 'his' and 'her'. It indicates possession. 'Its quality' is correct English. 'It's nature is ungrammatical. The word 'it's' should only be used as a contraction for 'it is'.
I fear that my effort will totally be in vain. We are experiencing several generations of people living in a 'grammar-free' English-speaking world.

3a. 'Me' vs 'myself'. 'Me' is the entire being. 'Myself' is the corpus sans mentality.
3b. "You" vs 'yourself'. As in "How are you doing?" "I am doing well. And you?" See 3a.
Bet this list can grow and grow. Oh, never mind. It has been going since Gutenberg's Press Days.
PS., Aren't contractions what one experiences with pregnant thoughts?
And no one has mentioned the"too's "yet My personal pet peeve.

Yes, I wish that certain people would read their message before posting it and correct any misspellings and grammar so that it would be readable.
Sorry, that was after my time in school. But I do remember taking a class in high school that was called 'English'. At that time I realized that I was deficient in English so I took it. I then found out all it was, was to just read a book and comment on it. So I left high school still deficient in English.
'loose' where 'lose' is appropriate.
