To Keeper: Well in another discussion on this site folks were writing about being honest re: saying nice things about the photos even if the pics were not so hot. I found all of the answers quite good. I am not a pro. So here goes- are you prepared? I wish I had your talent and could say those pictures were mine. I may be partial, however, I really like black and white and your child's photos in color are truly beautiful. Be proud that you took those photographs.

I just developed an interest 2 years ago after purchasing another iMac. I decided to sign up for the year long "One to One" training offered at Apple Stores. At one of the sessions I chose to have the learning session on "Aperture". I was so blown away with the sample photos that come with the program, that 3 days later I purchased a Canon s95, next thing you know it was a Canon T2i, sold that and am now using a Canon 60D.

My Dad inspired me as he was a scientist and used a camera to document much of his teams work. He would also take family and travel pictures which I loved to look at. I guess I showed some interest as he gave my sister and I each a camera for Christmas when I was about 7 and I've never looked back. He taught me to develop my own negatives and then we would send them off for printing. I remember the long wait for the prints to come in the mail and being so excited to see what I had gotten. This thrill is still with me today but now I don't have to wait so long to see what my efforts have captured.

Bought an Argus A5 just prior to joining the Navy. Got married, had kids leaving no money for film or developing. Played with imaging from time to time but family and business kept getting in the way. Got close to retirement - decided needed something to do rather than sit and rot. Bought a scroll saw - but, work shop outside - can't sit at a scroll saw in cold weather. Looked around and resurrected my interest in photography. Now have something to do yeqr round and two things in mild weather. Both are fun

Over 40 yrs ago, there was a contest where I worked, first prize was a trip to the Caribbean, second prize was shopping trip to ..... hummm cant remember the name of the store. After scoping out the store, I cheated on the contest (hanging my head in shame) and let someone else win the trip so I could take second prize.

There it was shining, in all its glory, "The Canon AE-1" and all the lenses known to man.. I took all that equipment and went into the desert, started taking pix and I have not looked back. I do have to credit the cacti blossoms, desert critters, AZ sunsets, my family, kids, sunshine, clouds, and and and. I put the camera down several years when my hubby got ill and cared for him, after he passed away I discovered digital! OH MY WHAT A RIDE THIS IS!

I've always loved capturing images for "all time" - so I could go back and remember things. I think I love landscape and nature photography the best because it's wonderful to capture the beauty of creation. I may not be able to paint or sculpt, but I can pick up a camera and create art of my own.

Dad of course, but my oldest son has gotten into it with a Rebel DSL. I have an old Agfa 1. Lost my canon powershot a 80 point and shoot. Then found it, read the manual and gor righ5 back intoit. Decided to go a bit more capability without cost and lugging lenses. So I went for canoodling SX40. The Hobby is back.

I was inspired to get into photography by my Dad.He use to drag out the slide projector and show a bunch of slides.I loved it,although I think it bored some of my family.I had a graphics class in jr. high and we had a section where we were assigned to shoot a roll of B/W film and develop and print it.I went for a flight w/ Dad (as he was a pilot for a commuter airline).I shot the whole trip from begining to end.My photos ended up being displayed for the whole school. That's what got me into it....

My father was an avid amateur photographer, never without his camera. I still have his old Kodak 35mm and I inherited his Pentax gear after his death. Now I'm shooting with a Canon 60D. I wish he was still here to see the digital age. I know it would fascinate him.

When I was young my Dad would take me to the LA Rams game or a USC game and I was fascinated by the photographers down on the field. The risks they would take to get those shots. Then I'd get the Sports Illustrated magazine and cut out all the really good shots and put them up all over my bedroom walls. That was my dream, to be one of those guys down on the field taking shots for Sports Illustrated. That and Hugh Hefner ;-)

National Geographic, at around the age of seven or eight (and no, not just the bare-chested african ladies). Over the years, no other publication has consistently showcased outstanding photography at such a high level.

My Dad work for years as a financial trouble shooter for Ford Tractor and he used to like to take pictures of farm equipment all over the western United States. He used to take us kids with him. My dad bought me my first camera and off I went.
