That does sound very strange...if you ever find out what happened, i'd be very curious to know how that accrued.

If your Canon has gone "Republican,"....it is much smarter than the average Canon.

I know nothing of the features of your phone but:
is your camera linked to your to your phone?
If so does the link go both directions?
how secure is that link?
and could the photos be from someone else's phone.

Check the properties of the photos immediately before and after the mov. in question, this can give you a clue as to the time and place your camera received the mysterious file. If you ever go back, see if it happens again, or, possibly someone else will have a similar experience in the same area. The fact you were at the 911 memorial could be a clue, as weird things can be afoot at places where many lives were surreptitiously lost...

did you look up the info recorded for each pic by right clicking on the pic name or pic icon on your computer and looking under properties. you should be able to see file type, date and type and the lens type, focal length, etc. If you had the camera w you at the the time the pictures were taken and it looks like it was your lens, that would be a clue. If not, you are in the twilight zone and may want to contact George Norey or Dave Shrader or email Art Bell. I'd go with Bell.

Obviously, your own education falls more than a bit short.

That is a very crowded area. Could someone with a smartphone or camera have come close enough to you, or even bumped into you, in such a way as to activate the Near Field sensors on their device and yours? If you then stood next to each other for a few moments perhaps the transfer could have taken place?

You say that Wi-Fi is not in your camera - what about Blue Tooth? Or, am I showing my ignorance by asking that question?

Simple...Call Canon and ask their Experts.... If you can stump them then you have done something.
I was able to stump them once for about 45 minutes until I realized they didn't know they answer to my issue.
But I did get them on the same model camera and doing some testing of their own.
I solved the issue myself about 30 minutes later...

Best,
Todd Ferguson

On your "properties" there are some clues. Since the lens was at 10mm, are any images obviously shot with a different lens or setting? Since the exposure comp was set at +1.3, were all of the photos a bit over exposed? Since the focus was set at Manual, were any of the photos out of focus? Were any of the buildings in places you did not go? The fact you said there were "collages" might mean that the file had been shot at another time and already been post-processed before it was inadvertently sent to your camera somehow. Are there any clues in the background noises?

NOBODY SNEAKED MY CAMERA!
This is serious and I need an answer.
My belongings could be bugged...
Russia could be spying on me...
The world, as we know it, could be ending...
Aliens are taking over...
I might be losing my mind...

Does it have a wireless option, and are the extra images images that your son took with his iPhone? Just thinking maybe it linked up somehow...

We’re you carrying your camera around and bumped the video button? You have almost two minutes there.

No, the video button can’t be bumped...it is a toggle switch. The video that I actually took was simply a few seconds capturing the sound and solemnity of the memorial fountains.

Oddly, the “rogue” video was *liberally* sprinkled with video clips I never took, but some of my images were scattered amongst them.

So definitely NOT republican. Fake news, perhaps?

No, I made a conscious decision to NOT have a wi-fi model.

Could my canon *think* it was born with wi-fi, and is thus asserting its transmodel rights?🤔🤓🤣
