I have 3 dslrs; i kept the old ones when i bought a newer one. i have three different lenses on each camera (18-55, 28-75, 70-300). it's really nice just changing cameras instead of changing lenses -- especially when standing on the shoulder of a highway photographing a landscape. The 3 cameras came in handy on my coast to coast excursion this year (and last!). When I saw a scene (and there were many) I wanted to photograph, out came the camera with appropriate lens already attached!

What a pity that you have never come to terms with the fact that you have to use a camera for some time to really know it - and love it - and not want any other, because with it you take good pics. You are almost certainly a gadget man rather than a photographer.
You say that you have 20 cameras and use all of them at different times. I suggest that you are not using them but are playing with them - and unless on full auto on a nice bright day don't get a good pic, D rSoul.

Delderby,

What a pity you only have one camera. A little presumptuous to think someone can’t take good pictures because they have lots of cameras. If I have more than one car does that automatically make me a bad driver?

Over the months I have been viewing UHH, I've seen lots of posts and photos indicating that some members have not just one or two, but many DSLR bodies. I'm curious if this is something necessary for the kind of photos they need to do, or just a trail of GAS? If you have several bodies (camera bodies, that is) do you use them all? How do you use them differently? Thanks

I have two digital bodies that I use; a Nikon D800 and a D90 for backup or a second lens. I also have a collection of about six or seven old Nikon film cameras that I never sold because the resale value became so low once digital came into the picture. I also have a 2 1/4" Rolleiflex that I have not used in years, but that I would not part with.

Mighty stuck up in your criticism, the number of cameras does not equate to the knowledge the person has. I have 8 DSLR all Nikon and know the Nikon menu system and how to use them for the best effect, however just like a carpenters tools that has a saw for each purpose so I use the cameras the same way. Obviously I can afford it or I would not have it.

I have 5 cameras. One is an 80's vintage Canon T-70 film SLR which I keep because, well, sometimes I like to just shoot film. My second camera is an early 1990s Canon Rebel (6Mega Pix). This was my first entry into DSLR cameras. I guess I could sell it but I doubt I'd get more than $10 so it mostly just sits in its box. Third, I have a Canon 7D II which I bought specifically because I wanted something good at shooting sports, birds in flight, etc. Camera number 4 is a Canon 6D because, when I'm not shooting birds or wildlife or sports, I prefer the added dynamic range a low-light of a full frame for landscapes, portraits, etc. Lastly, I have a Canon SX50 which is just a nice camera to have for those times I want a decent camera at some event or family outing, but don't want to carry a backpack full of gear.

PS: I love photography and don't feel having multiple cameras takes one thing away from that. Yes, I'm a gadget guy.

I have 2 DSLRs and 1 mega-zoom, all of which get used, 'tho primarily the better DSLR (80D). The other, a T2i, was the primary body before it was replaced. The mega-zoom has a reach I can't readily achieve with the DSLRs. I also till have 2 35mm Konica bodies and a few lenses for them. I just can't bring myself to throw them out. I did give away a Konica TC.

I have Canon 6D [full frame]and 70D [crop], plus a Nikon P900. 70D has been my main "walking around" camera, with a Tamron 18-270 lens [now replaced with the 18-400 lens.] And if I don't want to carry a large camera, I have a little Canon SD780 IS I can carry in my pocket.

Currently I just use 2 DSLR's, the 5D MIII and the back-up, the M II! I use them together all the time with different lenses attached. I also have several SLR's (35mm), as well as some MF SLR's. I use them too a lot, but not always together. I do however have always a back-up body with me, no matter what format I'm shooting!

I use a 5D and a 7D and all the same lenses on either cameras. I mark my lens caps with both settings ie. 100-300 160- 420
that give a quick view of either camera.

Easy and inexpensive IR conversion. The Sigma 9, 10, 14 and 15 Megapixel Foveon sensor camera's are convertible to IR with the simple removal of the filter over the sensor, No expense involved, while most other IR conversions are from $200 plus to nearly $400 to convert. With Sigma, the price of the body gets you in the door to IR. Furthermore, those bodies are not really more expensive than other bayer sensor digital SLR.

I used my Sigma SD14 with the filter removed, shooting IR. When I sold it is simply put the filter back in place. Great camera, at 14 Mp.
