I would spend the extra $$ and get the D7200 for the improved sensor, with a refurbished 18-140MM f3.5-5.6 lens.

My question at this time is: currently I have a Nikon 7000 and a Nikon 3200. I'm looking to upgrade one of these two cameras. The choice of which to give up is difficult because I like them both but, I wish to keep up with the technology curve even if that means I'm at the end. Yes, $ dictates I give one up. But which one. Please advise. DLL

I would sell both to help with the extra cost of the D7200 and lens.

Do what I did and you will be very happy; sell them both and buy a D5600 which is the perfect camera unless you are a pro in which case buy a D7200.

If the OP is shooting in manual or hopes to head in that direction does the D5600 have external controls or are they menu driven?

Welcome back! Just ignore the classless "rudies", Those cameras you have are very capable, but the D5500 has a lot of the modern upgrades. I like my D5100 because I value lightweight, built-in flash, and fully articulated screen. The D750 is highly recommended for full frame; and the price has really come down recently

I have a D7000 and made my wife promise to bury me with it. 16mp is terrific unless you’re a big cropper The Sony sensor in the 7000 is perfect (to me anyway). I have grown tired of and sold my d800, D500, D810, and D5 but I still have my D7000
Adorama has refurbished D7200 (another great camera) for 709.00. Great deal if you want to upgrade the D3200

The D5600 does not have the number of external controls of the D7200 but they are somewhat offset by the fact that the D5600 has a nice little fully articulating touch screen as well as Blue Tooth which gives you the ability to seamlessly transfer your pictures from the D5600 to your cell phone, tablet or smart tv. These are great features that I have grown to love and would no longer want to be without!.

Welcome back! You will still get a rude comment here and there but just ignore
and you will enjoy the 95% of helpful people here.

You could really sell either and move up to a d7200, that's a first choice.
Next is a D5300. If you want to use older lenses get the d7200 as it
has the built in focus motor, if it doesn't matter the d5300 almost
matches it in specs and is quite a bit less in price right now.

I had the d3200, then d3300 and jumped to the d5300.
I now own two d5300 bodies as my girlfriend and son both like photography as well.
If it's in the budget or you don't mind buying a slightly used one, the d5300 has some
excellent features you would really enjoy(built in wifi, articulating screen, hdr, bracketing etc).
Paired with a nifty fifty or a 18-140 lens
these cameras are capable of stunning shots. Enjoy!!!

If it was me I would give up the 3200 and buy a D7500.

I feel I need to clarify something. When I spoke of "keeping up with the technology curve" I didn't mean to say it as the "leading ledge. I know I won't be here for ever but I would like to have something that won't be a dinosaur when I'm gone. The suggestions I have recieved have been a big help in my decision. Now if i can just catch the sales at the right time. Thank you all. DLLender

Another vote for the Nikon D7200. Check out refurbished in the $800-$900 range.

I would guess that you want to stay with a crop sensor. The D500 would be a great upgrade.

Welcome (back) to our forum! Everyone here has received rude comments. As long as the good out-number the bad, life it good.

I would get a D7200, possibly refurbished. It has a lot to offer over the D7000. Then, you can sell the D3300 on ebay and recoup some of the expense. You'll have two cameras with almost identical controls. Ideal!

I don't have my links here, but try camera review/comparison sites.

Yep, that’s the ticket. Get the D7200 and consider it done.
