Was once a member here. asked a question in this very screen. was rudely replied to and have not been back since. Hopefully things have changed.

My question at this time is: currently I have a Nikon 7000 and a Nikon 3200. I'm looking to upgrade one of these two cameras. The choice of which to give up is difficult because I like them both but, I wish to keep up with the technology curve even if that means I'm at the end. Yes, $ dictates I give one up. But which one. Please advise. DLL

I have owned both of these. Well I had the D3100, and upgraded to D3300. I really liked the 3300. I then purchased the D7000 loved it also but it was only 16megapixels. Sold it and went to the lighter, D5300 which is a great camera. It has an articulated screen and other tech updates. And it is smaller than the D7000. I would update the 3200 to a 5000 series. Then you still have your serious camera and a newer consumer model. Lots of great deals right now for refurbished ones on sale.
I have the D5300, and yesterday bought a Nikon refurbished D7100, the price was too good to ignore. And I wasn't ready to spend more for a 7200.

Welcome (back) to our forum! Everyone here has received rude comments. As long as the good out-number the bad, life it good.

I would get a D7200, possibly refurbished. It has a lot to offer over the D7000. Then, you can sell the D3300 on ebay and recoup some of the expense. You'll have two cameras with almost identical controls. Ideal!

I don't have my links here, but try camera review/comparison sites.

In the first place, you are going to find people who are not polite practically anywhere. If only one person it is not difficult to live with that but when too many it is impossible. When that has happened to me I simply quit.
I am familiar with the D7000 but not with the D3200. The D7000 is still a very good camera. Its buffer is more than adequate for those who do not fire a sequence of shots forever. It has been adequate for me and it is still my favorite camera to photograph action and wildlife not saying it is not good as a general photographic tool.
Keeping up with technology will never guarantee you better photographs. Jack Dykinga once wrote that "Concentrating on technology will give one technically excellent pictures. Concentration on the nuisances of light and how it affects the subject will make one's pictures to stir the soul."

Upgrade your D7000 to a D7200. If you like to shoot wildlife or need something good in low light it will serve you well.

Nikon sells new D7200 for a buck less than $800. For a buck less than $1000 it comes with 2 lenses.

Your D3200 has a pentamirror viewfinder. The D7000 has a superior pentaprism viewfinder. The glass prism inside gives a larger, slightly brighter view through the viewfinder. I think it really helps with composition. The D3200 has a sensor that is newer and has more resolution. It's a difficult decision. I currently have a D7000 and a D500. The D500 is the top DX camera. Maybe sell both of the cameras and purchase a D7500 or D500.

We could better advise if you share what type photography you do. This helps determine what camera might best fit your needs.

Plus you’ll have two cameras that can use a wider variety of lenses.

Or go to a full frame with a D610. They can be had for well under what I paid for mine. Of course, there's glass to consider.

Sell the 3200 and get a refurb 7200. Controls will be very similar and I believe the 7000 and 7200 use the same battery.

Keep the one that best serves for what you do the most. You'll be happier than if you relied on others to do your thinking for you.

I would get a D7200 in your situation..Similar to the D7000, but 24 megapixels. Very well-built, and should suffice for all your needs.. Prices have been dropping fast on this great camera..Be sure to go for a USA version, NOT an import. The D3000 series of cameras are lighter, and much slower with less features...I would sell BOTH of your other 2 cameras. for the D7200, and get some "glass" with any money you have left over.
