I am having fun learning how to use this lens to its best (and my best) ability. I am not bothered by the weight, although it certainly is the heaviest lens I have ever handled. Most of my flying friends have gone elsewhere, so opportunities have been scarce. Nevertheless, this shot is one of the better I have taken so far: hand held. I know I have to work on getting the ISO down a bit, but I wanted to share my progress with the forum.

Einreb, Excellent photo and also excellent of the moon in your other post.

I have the G2 version of this lens and like yourself I love it's sharpness. The weight is high but manageable.

Greg

I don't see grain in the picture. Great result.

The less is very good and the lightest one I know of at 150-600mm.
I would have made this image lighter in Post-processing.

I also just got a 150-600 and like you have been looking for things to shoot and the weather to shoot them in. Here is one I got yesterday.

Thanks so much for taking time to look. I frequently use auto ISO but I think with this shot, I was using shutter priority and don't know if I did, or not. If your comment was in reference to my statement about ISO, I am struggling with reconciling what I learned about focal length and shutter speed, because this camera operates well at lower-than-I-am-use-to parameters. So I will have to keep practicing getting the three elements well coordinated.

What I've been using with my Tamron is manual mode, setting the shutter speed and aperture and leaving the ISO auto.
