I am having fun learning how to use this lens to its best (and my best) ability. I am not bothered by the weight, although it certainly is the heaviest lens I have ever handled. Most of my flying friends have gone elsewhere, so opportunities have been scarce. Nevertheless, this shot is one of the better I have taken so far: hand held. I know I have to work on getting the ISO down a bit, but I wanted to share my progress with the forum.
Good one Bernie and thats a great lens you've got.
Nicely done, Bernie. Do you use auto iso?

Howdy mate! Thanks for dropping by. I am always happy to see your avatar and your lovely pictures from your adventures. I really am enjoying this lens and can hardly wait until I have more "sitters" to pose for me. No doubt my shots will improve. Thanks so much and I hope you are well! Cheers!

Thanks so much for taking time to look. I frequently use auto ISO but I think with this shot, I was using shutter priority and don't know if I did, or not. If your comment was in reference to my statement about ISO, I am struggling with reconciling what I learned about focal length and shutter speed, because this camera operates well at lower-than-I-am-use-to parameters. So I will have to keep practicing getting the three elements well coordinated.
Very good, especially for hand-held with that lens! This is a very nice shot.
Version 1 or 2 About ready to order one myself.

Hi Paul. Version 2, which I understand has somewhat better optics and VR than version 1.

I rented the version 1 and was pleased with it. The only problem I had was metering. I keeped having to bring down the exposures.

From what I read only, if you liked version one, version two is a decided upgrade. Of course, version 1 can be had for fewer shekels.
Great picture. Is that a really ugly worm on the limb to the right of the bird's foot?
