I have purchased from Cameta Camera based on recommendations on this site and was completely satisfied. Looking at them right now to buy a refurbished nikon camera.

I've had no problems with 42nd St photo.
Just ask about warranty and origin. They will tell you.
Tip: buy the camera and register the purchase online at Canonusa.com.
If it is not covered, then Canon will tell you. If so, return it for refund.

I have seen several posts concerning 42nd St Photo on this site, not all positive. They have a Canon SX60 HS advertised for $369.00 with free shipping. Is this a good deal? Could it be gray market and if so would Canon honor the warranty or repair it if necessary? Thanks for any advice.

Be very afraid.

They will screw you with the Canon warranty and you'll get their warranty instead. Ask me how I know. Go to a place like B&H Camera, they are honest people.

A previous post by a uhh member, several months ago, said that when they sell you a camera, you have to buy unnecessary accessories costing sometimes over $100. Otherwise no discount. For a gray market camera.

They didn’t try to sell me unnecessary items, they stripped the included items off the camera and tried to sell them back for OVER $250!!! The front and rear caps, the tripod collar and the case! When I told him to cancel he said “just admit you can’t afford it” 🤬

Also Roberts, Cameta.

If 42nd St. has it at any given price, check to be sure that's not just an empty box. Another $200 and they'll throw in a camera.

That empty box remark is uncalled for. I have bought a camera and a lens from them with no problems

The sad truth is that shops like Abe's of Maine, 42nd St and even Willoughby’s Camera may have started out of decent resellers but looking at the totality of their reviews, the vast majority speak of bait and switch, poor customer service, and tactics to lure in unsuspecting clients looking for a low price. Camera sales are a low-profit business with manufacturers setting the MSRP. It only when they authorize a sale or rebate can a retailer then pass along the savings.
Members of the UHH community should be well aware of this so there really should not be any debate. If the price is below MSRP for new equipment, then one should assume it is grey market and you know the risks you are takingfor repairs, returns, etc. If you are risk averse, then you have a wide scope of stores you can go to both online and brick and mortar. If you want to try to save $ and are willing to gamble, then you become your own best negotiator but the risk is solidly resting on you. Everything else is just commentary and opinion.

Wayne,
I have a practicaly new SX60 that I purchased new about a year ago through Walmart in Florida.
It has very little use as I also have an SX 40 which I use most of the time. If you are interested I can probably sell it for about $325.00 plus shipping.

Wrap a towel around your head. Close Your Eyes. Walk through a crowded prison yard. Choose any one person. This probably will be a more trustworthy person than 42nd st photo. Everything you have read here is true and from credible trusted sources.
