Sunrise in Monument Valley--Critique please.
This is the first sunrise picture I have ever done. It was taken in Monument Valley AZ on our vacation. Should my silhouette be this dark? Please let me know what I could have done differently so I can learn more.

I love the silhouette just the way it is. Framing that beautiful burst of color

Thank you for taking the time to look at my photo and comment. I have some other pics where the silhouette isn't as dark but the sunrise isn't as rich either and it was the color of the sunrise that was important to me.

Thank you Keeper1029 for taking the time to look at my sunrise and especially thank you for the thumbs ups.
Thank you ace-mt for commenting on my sunrise picture. Since it is my first, I just wan't sure about it beyond knowing that I liked it. Where I live there are no areas that allow for a pretty sunrise or sunset picture.
Looks just right to me. Have one simular to this and in the same area.

Very nice. I have 2 friends just recently photographed there.
For a suggestion, try cropping off about half the foreground. Others may say no.

Nice picture. I agree with the crop suggestion. Take off a little of the top of the sky for balance, and about half the foreground. Make it a wide landscape format.
Good shot, I think if you would have waited just another minute or two you would have gotten the full sun which would have been a once in a lifetime shot. It appears some of the best sun setting/sun rising shots come out of Arizona, especially with the red terrain as a back-drop.

Are your 'other pics' from a view point so that you can blend them together with a HDR program. I'm thinking this would give you the 'best of both worlds.'
Post more pix from your trip?

That's exactly the right mindset...the sunset is what's important.
This is a great shot....the ONLY thing I'd have done is to crop the lower part where the horizon line is a bit more towards the lower 1/3 of the shot.
