Sunrise in Monument Valley--Critique please.
I love the silhouttes with the rich colors of the sunrise behind them.
Great shot.
Seriously this is perfect just the way it is, the way it was when you captured it! Nothing takes away from the color of the sunset. You did good!
Thank to all of you who took the time to look at my photo of the sunrise--and even more thanks for commenting.
I am going to try cropping the picture as some of you have suggested to see what results I get.
I really appreciate it when you folks comment because quite often you make me see things in my pictures I don't see.

I like the pic as is. But having said that, may I suggest in the future you take several pix of the same scene, but at different angles, varying distances from the horizon, etc. Then compare in your computer, and pick the one(s) you like the best. That's the beauty of digital - you can take as many pix as you want with no extra cost. The only drawback is if you take too many, the process of sorting thru them all can be quite time consuming!

This is the first sunrise picture I have ever done. It was taken in Monument Valley AZ on our vacation. Should my silhouette be this dark? Please let me know what I could have done differently so I can learn more.
I love the way the silhouette frames that gorgious red sun glow.

Just saw a neat sunrise from a friend of mine who been on a workshop at Monument Valley. He had photographer With camera and tripod as a silhouette, sun breaking thru them. Stunning. Yours is great also. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely shot. Do you have a photo editor? If so, you can select the dark areas and lighten them a bit. That may bring out some details in them as an alternative.
Yep. Great shot! I agree with @mdeman's suggestions on cropping.
Its a beautiful shot. I'd have shot several more as the sun rose.

Excellent suggestion here - I always take lots of shots of the same subject - different angles, light, zoomed in, zoomed out, different focal points in focus (if its a close-up). In this age of digital photography, we can 'afford' to take as many as we like. Once you get them on the computer screen you'll be amazed at what you see (that you didn't see at the time of shooting).
Thank you all for taking the time to look and comment on my sunrise picture. I have others of this sunrise but this is the last one I shot before we had to get in the truck to head out for our balloon ride. I hope I get another chance someday and will try to keep all these tips in mind.
