I think that I'd like a camera that would automatically take a series of photos with different foci so they can be combined to make a picture with tremendous depth of focus.

Malcolm ... that's a slightly different bent on the multi-bracketing employed by Sony alphas ...

I suspect that's do-able, since the bracketing employs all sorts of algorithms, to make sure you wind up with a perfect shot ....

Write to Sony! ... Suggest it! ... They just might do it!!!!

I'll test that feature out on the d850 I expect to receive this week.

Promise, I will. The focus stacking feature, as Nikon calls it, is the first thing I plan on testing. I can’t wait. I should get my camera by Friday.

I'm fairly new to understanding the features and options on modern cameras and their good and bad points. I have had a Nikon 7100 for 3 years and for the first time had a need for a video shot. I was ready to purchase a stand alone camera and a friend suggested using my 7100 so I gave it a try. It did outstanding and I was very pleased. What is the down side of having video or any extra features on a camera. You never know when the need will come your way

A slightly different question - but, along the same lines ... what feature would you most like to have, in your next DSLR ???

I would like voice activation where I could simply tell the camera what aperture I wanted what ISO I wanted what exposure I wanted what shutter speed I wanted without hunting through the menus

How about a feature that tracks your eye, then maintains focus on the same point in the viewfinder you are focusing on. Would be great for action sports and birds in flight. As long as you are looking at the bird's eye, the camera maintains focus on that point. The technology exists, it would just need to be made a bit more precise with quicker response.

That would be a great idea I understand they have that kind of technology in the Apache helicopters. Where the pilot simply looks at what he's going to engage and then well you know.

I haven't looked at the entire thread but my choice would be 3D. Anyone else suggest that?

I really like some of these suggestions. Mine is just simple - I would like the pro cameras to include the pop up flashes and auto settings. When I don't have all my gear with me, (sometimes I just grab something and fly out the door), it would be nice to have some flash on the camera, which is better than none on occasion. I can't see well when the sun is going down or is dark and I would like to be able to stick it in "auto" just to get a shot, which for me is better than no shot because I can't see the small settings. Yes I know that is why they are pro cameras..... I still like some of the stuff that is not on them.

This lady has a bad back and neck, so when I take my gear bag, I usually stuff it full of as many extra lenses as I can manage. :-)

That's terrific, Iggy .... I'll bet you're looking forward to it, huh?

And I'll be looking forward to seeing the pics from it, too ...

That'd be neat, Dyxi ... huh?

If we can tell our PCs what to do ... why not our dig cams, huh?
