This is the beauty of this website: put out a wild idea, and great people respond, and you learn a ton.

BTW: I have a car, just not in Boston. I don't need one here.

I think your public transportation is probably better.
I did recently take the bus to and from work.
Took maybe 15 minutes longer than driving and it only cost $3 round trip.
Less than driving my car.

Depends what you're doing, tough to get shots like this with the fuji :)

Well Steve, not many of us could get those shots regardless of equipment. You got skills man, you got skills.

Well don’t get too giddy. There’s a lot of misinformation here as well.

I saw these on your D850 review, Steve. Beautiful! And thanks for a great review.

I'm waiting until Spring to make a decision... plenty of time to research this... and save money. No eating out, no trips, no buying anything and 4 months... how much can I save up? We never eat out, we never take trips, and I buy nothing anyways. I'm mortgage poor, folks. (My mortgage is killing me).

The GFX body is $7000 and lenses are in the $2000 each range and are only prime lesese, no zoom. So far, there are no 3rd party manufacturers making Fuji lenses.
The Nikon D850 is $3300, and there is almost an unlimited selection of Nikon, Tamron, Sigma, etc lenses that work with this 45 Mp camera.

I need a loan shark. I really want the D850. And 2 lenses, one zoom/MACRO, one wide angle.
I pay my mortgage every month. I guess I'll have to get a line of credit, but DH will be very, very angry.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love the fuji for landscape and even macro work (if they have a good macro lens), but the D850 is a better "jack of all trades" body IMO.

Best Jack of all Trades camera on the market (mirrorless or otherwise) in that price range. Sony A9 is probably the next best but it's in a different price range
If they had Canon's DPAF, it would gain even more distance from it's nearest competitor.

Don’t do it. And there is no “zoom macro”.

Show off!

If only there were a way to find out how to make the best use of the focusing system on my Nikons.

Nope. It DSLR and compact for me.

Speaking of compacts, do women still use compacts, and I don't mean cameras? I can't recall seeing one since I was a kid.
