Every picture I took at our club house Halloween party were blurry with this camera. I don’t know what is going on. I share the pictures on our website after every party and I am just sick about this. Thank goodness we could not figure out how to video so used my trusty Panasonic lumix for the parade so got some decent shots. I checked this morning moved dials, etc, but still am getting blurry pictures. What have I messed up? This camera was new this summer and I did not use it mainly because I did not have time to learn all about it. Guess at my age I should stick to my point and shoot kind. Oh my camera is a Canon EOS Rebel T6/1300D. Anyone have any idea of what I am doing wrong? I had it set for the point and shoot setting.

Two quick ones. check the side of the lens and be sure you did not accidentally move the slide from auto focus to manual. Thats the biggie.

Next be sure the contacts on lens and in body are clean, you mentioned it had not been used for some time. They do gather contaminants.

My initial response would be two possibles, The camera (Its a canon) or operator error.

Being the Nikon man I wanted to do that but the first answer is sincere.

hope you report back with what you discovered as the real culprit.

Have you ever read your manual? Have you ever taken any classes on the basics of photography? The photographer takes the picture, not the camera. If you want to be a photographer, there is more to it than buying a new camera and pushing a button.

Kindly and gently... You need to take that time to Read The *Fine* Manual, and some good primers on digital photography. It may take six readings and 10,000 test exposures to understand, completely, what your camera is doing, if you previously have never used a fully adjustable camera.

Trust me... It’s just paying your dues... the price of admission to advanced photography.

How about reading your Canon T6 User's Manual and methodically going through all functions and taking pics as you go to see the effect instead of the hair-brained question and pics you posted. All that you've revealed is that you're too freakin' lazy to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

At the risk of be accused or being ins native or snarky, I have to agree with you. The OP needs to put in a little effort.

When i look close up to various regions in the image, I don’t see any part that is in better focus than any other part. So, my guess is the same as the others: your AF button(s) either on your lens, on the camera body, or in the menu was/were not activated.if they were, the Rebel T6 would give pretty decent shots. Try again in time for Thanksgiving. You won’t be disappointed.

Since you had it on the green auto setting I suspect at a Halloween party the lighting was not the best. Your camera on auto likely used a shutter speed that was to slow which lead to the blurry pictures.

This is an 83 year old woman trying to do something with which she is unfamiliar. She reached out respectfully to see if folks who know a bit more about photography could help her. And many graciously did. But then this is the arrogant, self-righteous response she received from you. Maybe she could have done more homework, but so what? Is that any reason to treat her so shamefully? Jerk. PS - the correct phrase is "hare brained", like the rabbit. But of course, you knew that.

Brilliant response! Obviously you forgot to take your meds.

Besides other issues it is well known that the majority of AF problems are operator's problems.

Have you ever listed to your mother when she said "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all?"

When everything is out of focus I would look at shutter speed and camera movement. What lens were you using?

The FIRST SENTENCE was not insensitive in the least. It's simply facing reality. It's, at most, tough love. The rest? See below.

CAMERAS don't make photographs. People do. The camera is just a tool, and you have to "tell it" what to do, or "guide it" to the desired results. The very most important part of any camera is about six inches behind the viewfinder.

Reading advanced camera manuals is not fun, but it is required reading. The manual to my Panasonic Lumix GH4 is 420 pages, plus about another 50 pages of updates for all the firmware changes they've made since the manual was printed. Every page was worth reading, if only for context.

The manuals to all the Canons I used at work a while back (EOS 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D, 5D, 7D) are still on my hard drive. I read every one of them, as I had to test, document, and train others to use them. It was all worth it, even suffering through the badly translated English. You get to understand their syntax after the first one, and it isn't so bad...

One thing happens after you've learned one advanced camera: You can pick up another one and figure out how to use most of it. You need to read the manual to understand what the new or different features do, but you can skip over all the things that remain the same as they worked on your last camera.

Set autofocus to "one shot".

Can't select that, when using the "super auto/point n shoot/A+" mode. When set to that primary mode, the camera forces using AI Focus and All Points/Auto Selection. It also forces other things, such as saving JPEGs.

The examples are so badly out of focus, my guess is that AF was turned off on the lens.

Were you giving her excuses for coming in late, charging her for washing her car, or leaning toward her?

list 1 |list|
verb [ with obj. ]
to make a list of: I have listed four reasons below.
• include or enter in a list: 9 parts are still listed as missing.
• [ no obj. ] (list at/for) be on a list of products at (a specified price): the bottom-of-the-line iPhone lists for $349.

verb [ no obj. ]
(of a ship) lean to one side, typically because of a leak or unbalanced cargo.

(Apologies; I couldn't resist. I love a good typo!)
