Every picture I took at our club house Halloween party were blurry with this camera. I don’t know what is going on. I share the pictures on our website after every party and I am just sick about this. Thank goodness we could not figure out how to video so used my trusty Panasonic lumix for the parade so got some decent shots. I checked this morning moved dials, etc, but still am getting blurry pictures. What have I messed up? This camera was new this summer and I did not use it mainly because I did not have time to learn all about it. Guess at my age I should stick to my point and shoot kind. Oh my camera is a Canon EOS Rebel T6/1300D. Anyone have any idea of what I am doing wrong? I had it set for the point and shoot setting.

Each Canon lens I retained has a switch near the base - "M" or "MF" for manual focus; "AF" for auto focus.
Make sure that switch is in the "AF" position.

But, to be honest with you, you must have been in too much of a hurry - If focus really was the problem, I'm surprised these pictures didn't look blurry through the viewfinder.

And you need to provide much more information than you have. The best thing you can do is repost pictures, checking "(store original)" because only that way can people see what the camera settings were.

If you are serious in wanting help, and many have lined up to assist, you do need to post images and store the original.

We can make some guesses at what you're doing wrong, but your camera via the EXIF data will tell us exactly. That data is only available when you store the original ....

At a guess.....you are simply looking through the lens and pushing the button hard down. IE not half way to allow auto focus to work then fully down to take the shot.

some point and shoots will auto focus before shooting no matter how quick you press the button. A DSLR will not.. There is no setting to allow this either.

If a Canon camera system is in “AF” mode, will it take a picture before it has achieved focus?? If I Recall Correctly, my Pentax K-30 has a setting which governs that behavior.

I'm not familiar with Canon. Do they also have a focus switch on the body that could have been accidently hit.

Yep, your lens was set to manual focus, so it wasn't focusing.
