I didn't have to set anything. When I opened a photo, the program recognized the camera/lens combo and asked if I wanted to download the "profiles", although it characterized the Canon 24-105 as a Sigma lens. Are you using DxO Photolab? I downloaded the 30 day trial this morning...http://www.dxo.com/us/photography/photo-software/dxo-photolab

Hold everything!!!!!!! I just went into DxO Photolab and put a check by "Focusing Distance" on a pull down menu. Now I see the distance that my lens was focusing at.

Thank you for your help golferbob.

Glad you got it working. Like I mentioned, I just downloaded the "trial" version this morning but it seems to work exceptionally well with my RX10III photos. I am going to try it with my A7II with my Sony lenses.

I envy you, that you have RX10III! I understand that's a great travel camera!

Remember that there is currently a bug when transferring images between LR Classic CC and DxO PhotoLab. I contacted DxO and reported the problem. They wrote me back confirming that they know about the problem and are working hard on a fix.

If you use LR you might want to hold off on buying DxO until they get this worked out.

I have also been playing with DxO PhotoLab and also like it a lot, so much so that I bought it!

I pulled up an old image that I had taken with my A900 and my cz 24~70 f/2.8 lens a few years back. I was so impressed that I posted the results on UHH.

Yes, it is a great travel camera. I got it specifically for trips we take to South Padre Island, TX. There is a great "birding & nature" center there with walk-ways out into the salt marsh. I see the RX10IV is out now with a better focusing system.

Now that I see your previous post, I realize that that is why I tried DxO PL in the first place. Thanks!!

Yes, I have been using DxO since it first came out. I'm a big fan of it. I have two working versions on my computer, DxO OpticsPro 11, and the new and paid for copy of DxO PhotoLab. I just never gave this parameter a thought until this week. Do you find it useful?

I've been using DxO for quite a while, and I'm with Jim, I can't locate it either. Checked every module. What heading is it under?

Who is Jim? No matter:
If you look on the upper right hand corner under the word "Presets" you will find a little square made of four tiny horizontal lines. If you press on the button a drag down menu will appear. Scan down that alphabetical list to the words "focusing Distance", place a check by that word and close the pull down menu by tapping out side the menu. Now that tool will appear among the various tools on the right of the screen. It seems to only work for supported camera/lens combinations.

From what I can see it lets you fine tune the distance that the subject was from the camera. To me this means you would need to use tape measure when are taking the photo! If you somehow know that distance you can enter it. My guess is that DxO will make use of that information when making lens corrections. I'm an anal kinda guy, but this too much, even for me. Someday I might make use of it, but I doubt it.

Maybe someone else has used it and can tell us more about it?

JimH123.

The only thing in the upper right hand corner is "Apply Presets". No small square with four horizontal lines. Also clicking on the box next to "Essential Tools", the drop down menu displays collapse, dock to left, float, hide, move up dock, move down dock.

If you use LR, there is a plug-in for showing focus point and distance:

I still can't find it either. The upper right shows "Apply Presets". If I go to ESSENTIAL TOOLS, the 3 horizontal bars show:
Collapse, Dock to the left, Float, Hide, Move Up Dock, Move Down Dock. But nothing on showing focus points.

I did download the focus points plugin for Lightroom, and it is working.

Maybe this will help, Download the attached image. Look just to the right of the word Histogram and you will see the little box I'm talking about. You might have a different word than "histogram" on your screen but the location is the same. I just took this photo a few minutes ago. Taa Daaa

This is the screen I get in both DxO 11 Elite and Dxo PhotoLab

Yes, I don't understand the problem? I have the same screen that you do. I'm losing track of what you are asking. I can see an obvious little square made of four parallel horizontal lines. Mouse on it and a pull down menu appears on my computer.

The screen shot that you just posted is completely different. My square only has 3 bars and no drop down menu as you describe.

Still don't see it. If I go to ESSENTIAL TOOLS (or any other Pallet), the 3 horizontal bars show the following download:
Collapse, Dock to the left, Float, Hide, Move Up Dock, Move Down Dock. But nothing on showing focus points.

Guess it means I need to go buy a Sony A99ii.
