That certainly has not been my experience. I wish that I could justify and budget RRS. I have to stay in reality. I shoot Madison, Hennery's Fork and Main Snake and RNR it's never been an issue.

Forget the conversion. Buy a better swiss-arca ballhead from Really Right Stuff or Aractech. The Manfrotto is not stable. It is proprietary and problematic. It tightens buy finger and always comes loose. It is small by comparison to swiss-arca. But suit yourself. Buy Manfrotto and you will eventually regret it when you camera falls into the River of No-Return.

More useless crap from a proven useless source. There are good reasons Manfrotto is the largest tripod head manufacturer in the world. Are there better heads out there? Of course, bit just because something costs 3 times the price down't mean it's 3 times the value. Conversions are wildly popular ever since the invention of gimbal heads solely for plate uniformity. Get over yourself, you are one of the reasons an IGNORE feature was added to this forum to begin with.

Manfrotto is garbage , just like most of the cheap crap you promote out of your one-stall store. But you should know cheap, its all you sell right? As of defining quality, I have read your posts. Yup haven't clue. Do you want to me to list all of the garbage you posted? Like when you evaluated the Nikon 200-500. You got up on a roof and took a picture and then took another picture and that was the intent of your comparison. OMG... please put me on ignore. I have no idea how I forgot to list yours. But that is so easily corrected. So long!!!!

Cleaver, you must have put a lot of thought in that response. I mean, using the word, "sewer" right? Good one. Hey put me on ignore. Love it!! - I will do the same and we will be golden. You really need to put sharpshooter on your buddy list. You really don't need to learn or understand photography, so you and sharpie will be great together. It is amazing how ignorance attracts the same.
MarK, Here is what you are not reconciling with me. I have no problem figuring out the max-best- hang the cost gear. Many are limited resources and means.
I found that by buying used and I mean not A,B,C,K but Main Street sidewalk I can get some great Images. I shot with Canon in the Parks and they turned me on to Refurbished.
I found a used Manfforto 055xProB and then 498 BH that had a Kirk Clamp. I find it sturdy meets my needs. Make fun of my equipment if you must. But you have to evaluate my images on their own merit. Show me how you can do better with a couple hundred dollars.

Your doing the right thing by going used or refurbished. I have done the same and it works. But what I buy, used or refurbished, it is always quality.. I have purchased used Nikon 500 mm f/4 and Nikon 200-400 mm f/4, 105 f/2.8 all used! It's fine. I am not making fun of your equipment. Manfrotto does not make quality gear. And they use proprietary plates and ballheads. That's a problem. And I personally have had several failures with Manfrotto gear. Coming out of China, they use inferior alloys.
And you can evaluate my images as well. Please be my guest.. Yes, please follow Sharpshooter and fan bois and BTW, you need to look at his images as well.
Again I agree that the RC2 was not to my liking the 498 has a Kirk clamp. But what I did is a system that I have =/- 200 USD. It get the job done. The only thing that I see offered is shoot off hand with two bills in pocket.

How do you remove a manfrotto plate before putting a new ArcaSwiss or RRS base to your tripod head
