It was a wise idea to get rid of the gray market D7200. The D7500 is a better camera than the D7200. A lot was made about it not having the dual SD card slots. No big deal to me. And the Tamron 18-400mm lens has praises from camera reviews and uhh members. Enjoy both.

I did some research on the D7500 so didn't go into this cold - the lack of a second card is no biggie since I never used the second one in the old camera. I'll be away this evening and won't get to play with the 7500 until tomorrow but am really looking forward to it!

Sooo ..... husband and I went up to the camera shop in Boardman, Ohio to get the sensor on my 7200 cleaned and to check out the Tamron 18-400 lens (an early Christmas present). Well, I made the mistake of asking if it will work on a 7500 if I ever decided to upgrade ..... one thing led to another and I ended up coming home with both that lens and a new 7500!! My husband really spoils me and I really, really do appreciate him!

Congratulations on your new gear.

DO NOT MENTION SEWING MACHINES, PLEASE!!!!!!
Besides her old Singer and a couple of Brothers from back in the days when I was poor my wife is into "Jenome". One day a few years back she came home with a store demo/open box of their top of the line, an on sale mid level (new model out so discounted) and a "like new" used serger bought by someone who gave up sewing shortly after buying it. There were also a couple of bags and boxes of "small stuff" and accessories that came out of the car also. That shopping trip set our bank account back over $7K that I know of. I didn't have the nerve to actually check all the invoices and I hate to think what it would of cost if the store owner wasn't a friend of hers. Plus she got "frequent shopper" discounts and treatment.

Well I got even. When I retired she complained all I did was read, listen to music and watch movies. (big CD, DVD and VHS collection-have a high end DVD-VHS player that dubs back and forth I have kept in working condition)
She got after me to get back into photography more which I had slacked off on for a few years.
So, I did, even joined the Senior Citizens Photo Club at the center. It is now aprx $15K worth of gear later, not counting computers to edit on and software. (and that is just what I now have, I sold and traded some stuff) But that is in 5 years, the most I have done in one purchase is about $2400 though I am lusting after a 5DIV.

Congrats on the new camera, new lens, and your generous husband. If your husband adopts me I’m housebroken, can fix computers and electronic gear, and always remember Father’s Day!

My husband has been collecting movies for years and ended up transferring everything onto a hard drive which now holds almost 2,000 films. Sure is a space saver!

Yes, one of my "maybe someday" projects is to put all that stuff to digital and scan the 8-10 file boxes of negatives, old family photos (two families) and slides to free up space. I did start by taking the 5-6000 slides (3000 from Vietnam alone) and toss all the bad ones. Down to less than 2000 now. Vietnam down to 600 slides. But I have negatives up to 4x5 and even a few old prints on metal from the 1800s that came from my Dad's family. Plus my and my wife's videos and super 8 movies.

Congratulations, I did same thing last April. Went to local camera store in Orlando. Just going to buy an extra battery for my D7200. Walked out with a D600 refurb.

Merry early Christmas!! Enjoy! I’m looking to upgrade the D3200 and pass it on to my daughter. I’m leaning toward the 7500 but I wasn’t sure how much better is is than the 7100 or 7200.

At least you walked out with a great camera.
