Well if you can't chase the birds, you obviously can get them to come to you! (This statement presumes you are not British and using the term "birds" to represent "ladies"!) If you are in the land of chickadees then you know how busy a well-stocked bird feeding station can be - hopefully you have some suet feeders to attract woodpeckers! And hopefully you can get to the feeders without too much difficulty - consider it therapy! Best wishes on a speedy recovery!

No sn, taint British, but Elizabeth is still our monarch here north of the 49th. And I do have plenty of suet feeders hanging around, with constant visits from 3 different species of peckers. Might still be a tad difficult getting my buddies fed but I do have quite a bit of time to do it.

Nice shot and good luck on your recovery. Just a suggestion with all due respect, give the bird a little more room to move in the frame. Too tight and tooooooooo centered!

Yes Nalu, I recognize I am not one who looks at the composition of most my pics. I'm really a birder first, then a picture taker. So I'm more interested in getting the clearest photo I can. Sure helps when you have to ID an unknown bird. But I do realize my shortcomings when it comes to composing. Thanks for dropping in and your kind words.

Whilte sitting on my backdeck, with my left leg convoluted after 2 surgeries. Alas, mobility is now an issue, but hopefully it will recover totally upon healing. But have no assurances on that. Tis up to the my doctors abilities and the wishes of the oldtimer up above. If it doesn't return then my favourite passtime (chasing the birds) will be down the tube. At my age, they say that things like this are reported to take a bit longer to make right, so will have to have patience :-) . Thusly to pass the time (and weather permitting) will spend the next awhile with my feathered friends in my backyard. Hope you enjoy some pics of those characters.

that's a great shot of the cute little chickadee, ron...one of my favorite little birds!
shooting on the deck is better than no shooting at all.

So true, tis better than no shooting at all. It's also nice that I usually average at least a dozen species of my feathered friends per day.

At least you have something beautiful to focus on (pun not intended) while you recuperate.
Now, challenge yourself to take some more beauties. Great shot. Let's see some more.

. I appreciate that Little Red, and if that is your objective, that is cool as well. Just saying though, if you want to make the best presentation of your photography of some of your favorite subjects, you may also want to be not only a bird watcher, which in itself is a great hobby, but think more about your photography as well. Who knows, you may end up being a great avian photographer. Love birds, love photography. You can be both at the same time!
