Hi Bill! May I kindly remind you, that you are a guest on a privately owned photography related forum? You have absolutely no say so on what anyone posts. However, you are free to not click on any threads started by chrisT or anyone else. You are also free to put anyone on your ignore list. Isn’t freedom wonderful?
PS: where on earth would a camera feature question be posted, if not on a photo forum?
Thanks for the reminder. I just added him to the ignore list.

Now, why on earth would anyone want to do that, Bebu?
No review possible w/o a screen ....
No menu access, either ....
You'd need a whole lot more buttons and flip levers, w/o a monitor, too ....
You don't absolutely need to do any of those and in some cases you don't want the screen. It looks ugly. Don't you see what Leica did. Sometimes I want to use a digital camera just like a film camera. You asked why? because I still use film but it's expensive so I don't want to use it so often.
No I don't need any more buttons. In fact my ideas was to get rid of the screen and all the buttons in the back.

You can do that, NOW, actually, Bebu ....
Any camera which has an HDMI connector - will allow that ....
Check behind all your black rubber flaps ... it's there, on most designs ....
You might need a mini-HDMI to full HDMI adaptor, though ...
But, still ....
Or with the later Canons you can use WiFi and do remote capture and control with your phone. I have a love/hate relationship to touch screens. I HATE greasy dirty screens with big fat fingerprints and big fat fingers are problematic for most smaller touchscreens. I LOVE that it’s so much faster than scrolling through choices with knobs. Quick and direct.
That is already here and has been for a long time. The versions I've seen limit the camera to using jpg. I've not tried it with a two card camera, but probably should give it a go.

I am waiting for separate screen from the body.
My D5200 had the flip screen which I don't remember ever flipping, but did tilt. I use my iPhone for selfies. The D750 has both tilt and touch. The touch srenn is a bit more convenient wtihout having to shuffle through menu items. I like it much better than not. As for wearing out, I doubt I'll ever use the tilt (or flip) enough to wear it out....
I find that the cam ranger attached to my D810 is better than any touch screen. I use it with my iPad and it works great.

Not what I am looking for.
Had the Fuji Xt20 with flip touch screen traded it in for the Xt2 after trying the joystick. So much better than touch screen.
Check out the Olympus OM D Mark 5 'll. Flip and tilt screens and weather, dust, and splash proof. 5 axis stabilization, oh my!

Misquote on my part... I meant D7500....

If you keep this up I am going to have to ignore you. Your questions really do not belong on this site.
Suit yourself, Bill ...
You know, though ... most of my questions are MORE pertinent to this site than the average ones ....

See, Bones ...
That's exactly what this post is all about ... the later one refers to TILT SCREENS ... THIS one refers to FLIP ....
This is your quote - "I doubt I'll ever use the tilt (or flip)"
These are two different designs. The TILT screen uses a finite angle pull down - usually 45 degrees or so ....
THIS POST is about the FLIP screen - hence the title - "Mirror, Mirror on the Wall - who's the fairest of all?"
That title refers to the idea you can use the FLIP screen - if you wish ... for selfies ... do you see?
Try that with a TILT screen! ... You will go absolutely nowhere in that regard ....
Also, a FLIP SCREEN - when folded out to the left - is ideal for making movies ....
Got it, now, Bones?

It's a convenience - no more kneeling down in mud or climbing a ladder.
Any time a manufacturer - of anything - decides to redesign, the money starts flowing out, and that's not what they want. They first decide how much the flip screen will cost to design and manufacture and how much money they will make or lose, depending on whether they add that feature or not. Given a choice, I'd go with the movable screen, but a touch screen doesn't interest me. My fingers are rather large compared with that tiny LCD.

Jerry, I would like to see an LCD screen that is totally removable and that communicate with the camera wireless (somehow). Just keep it in your pocket. Control the camera and view what the camera has taken. I guess I am pipe dreaming !!!

If you have the right camera, that is already possible. It is with my EM1 and my iPhone
