Our family just got back from a week long stay in Moab, Utah. While there we mountain biked, and did some climbing. This is a photo of my oldest daughter posing on a climbing route while being 5 months pregnant. I think this photo is rather "artsy" looking. I love the colors of her outfit and how well it is in harmony with the rock and environment. Please download it for more detail.

Great pic! Belongs in a women's fitness magazine!

paulrph1, if you are trying to say that since she is pregnant, she shouldn't be climbing, I must disagree with you. I have been climbing for over 40 years and am very familiar with the possibilities of injury and potential dangers. In this particular case my daughter was being top roped which is the safest way to climb because if she falls, the belayer can catch her right away. My daughter also had the harness on in a way that if a fall would occur, the pressure from the harness would be above and also below the infant and no pressure would be on the baby. This is my daughter, and fathers in general have a distinct inherent instinct to protect their daughters from anything and everything. I feel like I have that same feelings and would never subject my daughter (or baby in her tummy) to any dangers that could harm either of them. Thanks paulrph1 for your understanding and concern.

I really like your answer--it addresses the subject very well. We must let our grown children live their own lives and hope that the guidance we gave them will help them make their decisions. The image is well composed and executed.

Excellent shot. Your daughter is awesome, but I might suggest that she hold off on climbing
until after the baby is born. Pregnancy and extreme sports combined sounds like risky
business to me. You can't be too careful in this situation. >>Alan

Great Shot!!

Now are you letting your daughter part take in dangerous activities while carrying your grandchild? Or was this someone else's idea and you were just taking advantage of a great photo op?

Again a great shot that you will be able to use for bribe money in the future when your grandchild is older and asks about what her/his mother did that she will allow her child do.

Remember Grandparents are to help grandkids to get into mischief that they would not let their children do!

Why engage in an unnessessar risk, at any level, that could result in horrific, life-changing tragedy?
At my age, not my cup of tea. The risk, even slight, far outweighs the reward.
Good image, though.

Thanks Kmgw9v for your nice comment about the image. You do have a good point about the risk also. In hindsight I might have tried to talk her out of it.

I think this is an awesome image. Her pose is what makes the image so captivating. I think it would make a nice addition to her baby book.
(and P.S. to all you nay-sayers, an active mother is a healthy mother. Research has show that moms-to-be can (and should) continue their daily activities (whatever they may be) for as long as they feel comfortable doing so.
She will slow down when the baby becomes more prominent. That's a fact.)

Thanks so much firtree for your thoughts on this delima of should she or should she NOT climb! Thanks also for saying the image is awesome.

I think we all learn from each other. The internet is a great way to converse with one another and get ideas.
