Good morning I don't know why so quick to start they said they wanted to get me up and try to walk a bit and put some weight on my leg, just finished similar workout this morning this time they had a guy standing beside me for support they even had me do a couple steps on a portable stool, it hurt a lot but I was able to walk a short distance down the hall with a cane and the help of the orderly, the steps did not work well yet, I asked that question of the nurse and the fellow and they said it is important to get my leg muscle strength back as soon as possible otherwise I would need to be in a extended care place instead of going home to recuperate, they have already had the therapist in with me setting up next couple weeks therapy. Heck even back in 2007 when the first replacement was done they had me up out of bed the next day but they had a couple young girls come in and try to lift me out of the bed into a wheelchair and they could not hold me very well and dropped me into the chair where I was nailed with a massive amount of pain a couple of hours later my stomach had a rupture and caused gas to get into my blood it almost killed me I was med flighted to UOP in San Francisco from Sonora. Funny no staples they actually put stitches in and again yesterday when they came apart. I've never had stitches that delayed therapy each surgery they had me up and working at getting stronger maybe if it has to do with stitches elsewhere and from some organ surgery they keep you down longer like they did when my stomach had that happen. I am glad they are trying to get me up and out of here I get so bored and all these blood draws suck are they really necessary danged vampires.

I have been a surgical patient (hips, knees) that required physical therapy post surgically. But in each case the stitches were removed (or absorbed), and the wounds healed before the physical therapy began. It only takes about 10 days for the soft tissue to heal. Even if you had a staple closure, the like to remove them in about 10 days to 2 weeks. So, I would ask, why was the PT started so soon, before the wound was properly healed?----Best of luck, and I hope your recovery goes well.
