Would you rather have a camera capable of 14fps, or a camera with 51mp? ... Why?

I have one of each for a reason!!!
I don't have 3 or 4 or 5 but I do have one of each. They are also backups for each other and I shoot both on any given venue!

Neither.

I have my Pentax cameras set for 3 fps because I don't need their faster 6 fps most of the time.
A 36MP camera has more than enough pixels for me.

If I spent my money on a 51MP camera or a camera offering 14fps it would be only because that camera offered something else I did want, like better high ISO performance

The 51mp as I do not shoot sports or fast moving wildlife, mostly landscape and shots where I do not need 14fps.
But yeah both in the same camera would be nice.

Each new camera design offers higher ISO performance than the last, RE ... for instance, the D5 comes with a stat level of 102,400 ... and expands to an incredible 3,280,000 !!!! ... but how much of that is REALLY usable?

I suspect part of the reason for the ever-higher numbers, is marketing ...

Hey ... how are ya doing, Terry ... are you out of the hospital, yet?

That's the trick, see ... YOU CAN"T HAVE THEM BOTH!!!!

Choose the faster frame rate - and you will lose out on the MP count ...

Choose the higher res ... and you're stuck with mediocre speed ... that's why I wrote - EITHER, OR ....

I'm not talking about ISO settings; I 'm talking about delivering low-noise images at ISO settings that we would have labeled as "insanely high ISO settings" just a year or two ago. I have seen images from the Pentax KP that make me, for the first time in a long time, want a camera solely because of its capabilities; between the sensor and the built-in Noise Reduction, it seems to be doing the job. I am willing to believe that the Nikon D850 will do even better - at a somewhat higher price tag. {and, no, people haven't said much about K-1 in this respect}

Yup, RE ... the difference is about two-and-a-half grand ...

But, at least - the Nikon entry gives you a top-deck LCD !!!!

No had a pretty rough day they started already with physical therapy, did not do well the stitches ripped and blood everywhere and the meds they are giving me for pain had to be changed from Fentanyl to just morphine shots they were giving me both and I was so out of it I barely was functioning my wife caught it and bitched at them so now morphine and ibuprofen for pain which is better I am more aware though loopy as hell.
They are still sticking with Monday afternoon for me to be released, sure hope I am better by the 16th as we are going back up to Sonora, Ca. to finish up the paperwork on the new house and this house is set to start being shown on the 13th. I really want to recuperate back home on Maui on the beach but looks as if we will get back there this spring instead, this fall threw a monkeywrench on a lot of plans. These nurses are not really that happy I have my laptop with me as I guess they think I am not getting rested.

Speed for landscapes and stills aren't needed very much so I would be more satisfied with the extra mp's
