As I was looking at all the beautiful pictures of animals members posted here today, it occurred to me that when sci-fi movies show distant worlds, they may have humanoid creatures, but they have nowhere near the variety of creatures that we have on earth. I guess it would take too much effort and money to populate an alien world. Imagine what the world would be like if we didn't such a variety of life.

Yes. I did it on purpose to see if anyone would notice.

Sometimes I type so fast the computer an't keep up. Is that believable, or should I make up another excuse?

A lot of those alien critters aren't things you'd want as a pet. Sci-fi isn't too favorable to the aliens and their lifestyles in general.

Alien lives matter!

What I have always noticed as that nearly all the "aliens" in these sci-fi movies are very much like us, two eyes, arms of some kind, legs of some kind, generally symmetrical in the body, ears to hear and mouths to utter noises. I guess we just cannot improve on God's original design.....

At least not on TV.

My grandfather used to say, "A poor excuse is better than none!"

What a wise man!

Say it with conviction, and people will believe it. Put a after it, and people should know you're kidding.

It's tough to find actors who don't look like people.

You are lucky that you can think faster than you can type. The other way around would be sad. :)

I'm new to this site....and commenting on sites in general....but I am a sci-fi fan and agree. However, you should take a look at the animals they came up with in "Avitar". I thought they were pretty creative and, although you could identify the analogous earth creature, there were stark differences. Such as: The horses nostril's were on their shoulder - almost all of the animals had six legs - and some of the insect life had interesting wing configs. In addition, the "huminoid" species native to the planet had three fingers and a thumb.....as well as a tail.
