periodically Roku will send an e-mail about new channels, some are free, also I believe you can go to their web site and look for channels you want and see if theere is a charge, had HULU for 4-5 years now, use it just enough to justify the cost, even 1 movie a month makes better than the break even point in my thinking, grand kids can watch a program they like at the time we specify , before bed, can't do that with broadcast, BTW we don't have netflix, amazon or that stuff.

I'm liking Roku so far, mainly because I don't have to decide if I want to keep paying a monthly fee - there is none! I just have to learn how to navigate it. It's different from Netflix and Amazon. Now that the regular TV schedule has returned, I'll be watching more network TV. I spend only about three hours a night watching, so I like to watch something I enjoy.

I have used Roku since v1 and find it offers a lot more than most people realize. Here are a couple Links that give an idea of how much:

I have the little box ROKU, lets me put movies on a flash drive and watch them on the tv without wirelessly connecting them, means I can turn off the computer and watch, new TV in the little house has Hulu built in, netvlix too if I was to subscribe

Check out RetroTech. I find it fascinating & can just let it play while I ‘fiddle’ on the ‘net.

Thanks!

I find it annoying that we have to pay $5 or $10 for almost every channel we want to watch. I doubt that I'll keep Acorn after Doc Martin ends. It has some good shows, but it's not worth $60 a year to me. Netflix and Amazon and Crackle have plenty to offer.

Jerry, Doc Martin is on Netflix. Had Acorn but dropped it.

Curiosity Channel is great for documentaries on a wide variety of subjects for 2.99 a month.

Any recommendations for me?
We seem to share the same warped mindset.

Yes, but not Season 8, the new one. New episodes air on Acorn the day after they are shown in England. I'll take a look at Curiosity. I'm curious about what that's like.

As for recommendations, I like watching foreign crime series - Scandinavian, French, Chinese, Indian. They seem to use a lot of English. It's interesting to see how other countries operate. I also like anything about science and space.

I cut my tv bill from $236/month(direct TV) to $72/month with Roku. I have subscriptions to nexflix, amazon and play station view. I get every thing I watched on these. Roku has a blog they send out monthly listing everything free that month. Great product

My bill is higher than that, $150, maybe. I have Internet, phone and TV through the cable (Spectrum), just paying extra for Netflix ($10).

Jerry, a show on Acorn you might enjoy is "Murder in Suburbia," a British mystery show starring the actress that plays Louisa in Doc Martin. If you enjoy murder of the week mysteries (without angst filled teenage daughters, deadbeat brothers in law, and recovering addict sisters) there's Brokenwood Mysteries.

Yes, I saw "...Suburbia" years ago. Good show.

I'll take a look at Brokenwood.
